WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
I'm the MOH in my sister's wedding this July.
I want her shower to have a theme- but I'm having trouble coming up with something.
It will be a basic bridal shower- most likely at an italian restaurant (my mom is choosing the place) we'll play a few games and have a wishing well.
The only thing a little "different" I can think of is doing a "Naughty and Nice" gift theme- In addition to the regular gift (nice) each guest brings something "naughty" for the bride to use on the honeymoon (ex- lingerie, "naughty" scratchoffs, etc.) instead of the regular wishing well
Anyone have any other ideas?
I was thinking of using a polka dot decorating theme...but I dunno...
I had so many ideas for my own shower- but now I'm stumped!
PS- Sorry if this is the wrong board- I never know where to post things like this.
ETA: Her wedding colors are black and hot pink...not sure if I should use these colors at the shower too though...

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
is there anything you know your sister is into more than anything else? like i saw someone on LIW did a cute shoe themed shower since that is what the bride was into----other stuff was like a high tea---a bar theme---gourmet theme--etc.

No....she likes shopping, animals, baking...nothing she's SUPER into- that's why this is difficult.

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
i'm helping to throw a shower in march with kind of a gourmet cooking theme- the bride is really into cooking. its just at her moms house, so its gonig to be pretty simple. we're having a chocolate fountain there, and the favors are going to be stainless steel measuring spoons. we're trying to think or ways to incorporate the theme in other ways, too...

hot pink lingerie line instead of wishing well
-when everyone entered the room they were givin a martini glass(99 cent store) with pink and hot pink wrapped candy
-a rented pink and black shoe for "well wishes notes" which were on hot pink cardstock and black ribbon
-also mrserod made me pink shoe lollipops with black ribbons!!!!!!HUGE HIT!!!!!
-favors were bath and body works spray in a pink paper bag and black and white ribbon ...packaging made it look like a handbag....label said..."to keep you smelling fabulous....jess's bridal shower and date" you can kinda see them here on the far right

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
Just make sure she's comfortable with having a "naughty and nice" theme and it will work with the guests going.
To be honest, before my shower, I was PRAYING no one got me lingerie or anything like that. To me, at least, it's personal, and I wouldn't want others picking it out for me. HOWEVER, I know I'm in the minority.
Most of my shower consisted of family -- aunts and older relatives. I don't know how comfortable they would have been with that theme... I know DH's side would have been really uncomfortable. They are VERY conservative that way.
I have to say, though, I'm sure no matter the theme you'll go with, it will be obvious how much time and thought you're putting into her special day.

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
these are the themes i have either come up with for some of my friends i definetly took there interests to heart when thinking about the shower luau theme, cocktail theme, shopping, like the polka dots theme with her colors, tuscan wine theme, one of my friends loves mickey mouse so much so i did the invites and cake mickey inspired i know it sounds like a kid thing but i did it in the most sophisticated way possible.

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
if she likes baking, you could incorporate that... at my cousin's shower, the favors were heart shaped cookie cutters attached to a really cute poem; and the invites went out with a blank recipe card and the guests were all asked to bring one of their recipes on a card... you could ask for baking-type recipes. i also know that there's a dj-chef that does bachelorette parties or whatnot; i bet you could do that for the shower if you wanted - and have them make a dessert as opposed to a dish, persay.

I'm the same way. I was mortified when my aunt gave me this really wh0rish lingerie since my grandmother and MIL were there. It was just very awkward for me.
But I was embarrassed to tell my dad I was pregnant b/c then he'd know for sure I was having sex, even though I was married almost a year at that point.

I was embarrassed to look at my dad the morning after my wedding. I'm glad I'm not alone.

Re: WR: Bridal Shower Themes??
You could do a baking theme. Have people bring kitchen equipment and recipes. If she loves shopping what about a shopping theme. Have little bags with candles in it, bring in things from select stores, offer a specific favor that is unique to a certain store. Where are they going on the honeymoon? What about a theme around that....ie: the bahamas have sand and seashells, get her a camera, a scrapbook, sunglasses, have a scavenger hunt, serve more island fare and drinks....Hope that helps
