Re: Do you volunteer?

I did a year of full-time servicefor a $100.00 a month, lived in simple community with other volunteers-- a Catholic lay missionary program. Best experience of my life...

Also did a lot of service work and social justice education work with undergraduates when I worked at 2 Catholic universities...

Right now, I am a Eucharistic minister and will soon be going into hospitals/nursing homes with Communion. I work the Girl's Choir at my church adn sing at church.

I do want to get more involved in social justice work... it was such a part of my life in my early 20's... I miss it.

Re: Do you volunteer?

I volunteer for the MS Society - I help with whatever runs/walks/bike rides they do.

I'm also helping campaign for Hillary, but I'm not sure if that's really volunteering or not.

Re: Do you volunteer?

Yes, I do. I run two community service clubs for my school, free of charge and do my volunteering with them.

I used to, but don't anymore Chat Icon

DH and I were very involved in the Kiwanis family, we met through a community service group. I feel horrible that I don't volunteer anymore, we just got so busy that we didn't have time to participate.

Re: Do you volunteer?

Back when Gulotta was in office, I used to volunteer for a program that taught DD & SN children and adults to ice skate. I used to skate competitively and played ice hockey, so I was able to teach a broad range of styles and skill levels. That program was trashed in the 90's.

I also volunteered for a rescue org, but I want to return to it since I am home with DS. Once DH & I move and settle, I will volunteer again for animal rescue.

Re: Do you volunteer?

I've done pro bono work in my field. I would like to branch out and volunteer in something different, though.

I used to volunteer at the Hospital, but since kids, I don't have the time anymore. So wish I did ... I really enjoyed it!

Re: Do you volunteer?

In the past, I've volunteered at the Helen Keller Services where I read blind people's mail to them & helped run errands.

I also worked in an orphanage in Mexico for a summer.

I'd like to volunteer but I'm short on time because work is so busy these days.

Right now Division Chairperson of a local soccer team. I'm not sure that's true volunteering but it's a major PITA dealing with screaming parents & coaches. It's all stuff that can be done at night after the bedtime story is finished.

Re: Do you volunteer?

When I did my undergrad internship I put in extra hours on my own time for a couple of months after completing my requirements because I loved working at the hospital with the kids.

I also just completed 700 hours of internship requirements for grad. school, it was required but it wasn't paid internships and I was working there doing the exact things the staff there do.

Re: Do you volunteer?

I volunteered for a few years as an Advisor to a High School Youth Group, it was a group that I was a member of when I was in H.S.

It was a wonderful experience for the most part ...

But after I opened my own business, I found that I didn't have the time for it anymore so I gave it up.
