My god, I hope you don't meet me. You would accuse me of faking my accent something awful.
When you live in a certain place, you do start to pick up what people say, for instance, I have a client called HBoS. I can't call them AitchBawss in my LI accent, no one would know what I was talking about, so I have to modify what I say. Also, plenty of regional things come into your everyday vocabulary, so its not faking an accent as much as it is modifying your own to fit in.

Also, I think its not a case of faking your accent, but modifying it to fit in better.
Although every day people tell me I haven't lost my NY accent...but they don't know what I used to sound like!

LOL! People comment to my grandmother how "quaint" her English accent is, but when she talks to her sister she tells her how "NY" she has become
