When I am alone (RARE!!), I blast music at the loudest and sing along with some dancing while doing what needs to be done.
I like silence at night.

DH used to fall asleep with the radio on an am talk sports station before he met me. I need complete silence to fall asleep.
When we are home though (and awake), the TV is almost always on.
We have an iPod player in the kitchen which I'll put on when washing dishes to make the time pass ... but for cooking, etc. I'm usually in & out of the kitchen lots, watching tv in between.
DH's mom has a TV in the kitchen, which is the first time I've seen that. But it works for her, especially since sometimes its the only way she gets to watch her shows!

silence in the house, but when i'm outside in the summer i love the sounds of nature. i'm very sensitive to noise, i hate the tv on when i'm on the phone or even if we are talking.

I love this topic!!!
I love silence. Peace and Quiet, when i am home alone, I turn nothing on, i can sit on my laptop with no sound.
Also when cooking I definately understand having silence. It just helps you concentrate

The TV is always on...and the funny thing is that I really dont watch television. I just need the background noise....I even have to sleep with a noise machine or the fan. Otherwise it's to quite.

I like music when I bake, something snappy.
Otherwise, it's silence. I cherish the hour I get of peace and quiet in the morning before the rest of my coworkers get here.
It's so serene in my neighborhood too. I can't wait till summer when I can have my breakfast on the deck and watch and listen to the world wake up.

it is hectic at my house all day long...ipods--computers, kids and dogs==tv on in living room and kitchen.
At night I will usually fall asleep to tv on.
If I am upstairs sleeping I try to turn it off.

Depends on my mood.
Sometimes- the sound of silence in the house is just wonderful.
Other times I will put the TV on for background noise.
I can't fall asleep to silence- i need the TV on until I fall asleep.
I also could never study or concentrate with the raido or tv on. If I am working at home I need it to be quiet....

I need noise, I always put a TV or radio on when I'm doing stuff, like cooking or cleaning.
OASN: I used to tell my boss he had to give me a van with a radio, otherwise the voices would come back!

I keep a small stereo in the kitchen, depending on my mood, I either have 96.3 Classical, or 104.3 Classic Rock. I don't blast it though, I like a little in the background
