Re: Barilla Pasta
Honestly, I think this is a ridicuouls notion that eating pasta will help you get pregnant. If you do want to try it I would not eat it every day, that many carbs is not good for you. Eat it a few times during your cycle.

I agree! I'm sure it's good to get those nutrients in general, but I don't think there's any direct correlation!
We eat it just because DH is a health nut!

Me too! The first time I saw it I was really confused about what pasta had to do with getting pregnant.

Re: Barilla Pasta
I agree that eating this pasta for TTC sounds silly! I've never heard about it anywhere but here, too.

Re: Barilla Pasta
Okay I do think the pasta thing is weird and probably not true but I did read an article on how to get PG in a magazine a few months ago and it said that you should increase your whole grain intake and it WILL increase your fertility. It specifically mentioned whole wheat pasta. I would imagine it would be like maybe eating all whole wheat for a few months though. Not just a few days of barilla pasta.
ETA: Okay wait I just found it. It was in the Women's day December issue. It is called foods for fertility. It is ways to prevent ovulatory infertility... trouble concieving because of infrequent ovulation.
IT says to eat "slowly digested carbs. such as pasta and whole grain carbs. Women who ate a large amount of high glycemic load cards (those that are digested quickly, like white rice and potatoes) were 92 percent more likely to have ovulatory infertility than those who ate slow carbs (brown rice, whole wheat pasta, whole grain bread)"
It also says to eat protein mostly from plant sources . Women who eat the highest amount of protein from animal sources were 39 percent more likely to have ovulatory infertility. Eat eggs, beans, and nuts.
Eat Good Fats. mono and poly unsaturated fats in olive oil and canola oil cashews, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. These fast decrease the amount of insulin resistance and inflammation in the body. These two things can interfere with ovulation. Drink Whole Milk (okay I find this be weird). and full fat dairy foods. When fat is removed from milk its hormonal makeup is altered and it can negatively affect fertility. Make one to two servings whole milk based.
The information came from a book called the Fertility Diet. These result are from the Nurses health study which is a long term study covering the lifespan of nurses. My mom is in it and you have to fill out questionairres every year. It is incredible the amount of information they are getting about health from this study.
So anyway.. I hope that helps.

Agreed. Don't even get me started.
There is also a difference between whole grain and whole wheat pasta. People have been specifically asking about Barilla PLUS pasta. It can only be good for a person to make the switch from regular to whole grains.
I just minutes ago came from an endocrinology appointment with a family member who has serious dietary and diabetes issues and the endocrinologist specifically said to stay away from white breads, potatoes, rice and regular pasta. It is generally better for EVERYONE to eat whole grains. It helps with sugar levels. I will always have a hard time swallowing (no pun intended) the idea that pasta promotes fertility. Good health and good choices do that. JMO.

Re: Barilla Pasta
barilla plus pasta is only considered to be a good nutritional source relative to regular pasta, which essentially has no nutritional value at all.
don't waste your $$$. Eat meat, dairy, and lots of veggies and fruit, and don't eat pre-packaged stuff with lots of additives.... oh, and drink lots of water and juice.
