Why isnt she eating... its driving me nuts
What am I doing wrong? She doesnt want anything. I try in give her table food thinking that she doesnt want baby food any more and the only thing she will really eat is cheerios and puffs.
I mean she wont eat anything. She shuts her mouth and pushes it away. When i give her table food she will eat a few bites and then play with it. I though she would have had this food thing down by now. She turns a year old next week. I get very worried because soon we say bye bye to formula and she wont get enough vitamins. Any tips?

When I introduced the puffs and cherrios that is all Max wanted. WHen I feed them now I distract them with it..I put it on the tray and when he picks one up to put it in his mouth I shove food in there first. I dk if you tried that or not. if not...take away the puffs and cherrios for a few days and give dc a cool toy and distract while eating maybe. They never let themselves starve.

I agree. With DD it's all about distraction. Sometimes when I can't get her to eat at all I let her eat on the go. Always works, shove a piece in her mouth while she's playing and she takes it.
In the highchair, I found I have to serve her and not make eye contact, otherwise she gets annoyed and won't eat.

Re: Why isnt she eating... its driving me nuts
If this is a regular thing, it could just be that she isn't a great eater! Honestly, Noah is 2 and he still isn't a great eater. Sometimes he eats, something he doesn't, sometimes he likes one thing, then if you give it to him again, he won't eat it.
I say a few things 1. Don't freak out, children are like dogs, they can smell fear and stress. If you get stressed out, she will tense up and resist anything that you try to do. 2. As long as she is eating something, don't worry too much. I don't know any 18 year olds who don't eat. 3. If she likes spaghetti-o's, let her eat them everyday, one day put peas in, one day put corn. If she wants canned pasta...give it to her, so long as she eats. 4. Pick your battles, this morning Noah wanted a cupcake OR a bag of potato chips for breakfast...I let him have the cupcake (fairy cake...only very small) as everyone knows, Mickey got milk for the bakers in the night kitchen so we could have cake in the morn. 5. Try eating dinner with her, or have her eat with other children.
I hope this helps!!!

I completely agree with Rachel. My DS is the same as Noah. I finally gave up and realize this is his eating habits. Some days he only has two meals because he doesn't want to eat. Other days I and wonder where all the food is going that he is eating.
I will that if she is normally a good eater then she might be teething. Another thing that I did with DS around one was that I gave him the plastic toddler utenscils and he loved feeding himself. Now at 21 months he feeds himself with a spoon an fork and pretty well I might add. I can not feed him anything. If she eats pasta, I recommend the Fiore (wagon wheels) because she can put them on the fork and they stay on. For the spoon I started with pretty thick oatmeal (the beginning was MESSY) and now he can eat yogurt too with the spoon.
