Chase Mortgages
As we consider our mortgage quotes, Chase is in the lead. I just wanted to know how those of you who have mortgages through Chase feel about your experience with them. Pros/Cons? TIA!

WE have Chase too. Didn't start out with them originally, but they bought out ours and we are very happy with them. I pay it online with my online banking.

We have a Chase mortgage and I haven't had any problems. They matched the rate we were quoted from a mortgage broker when we started shopping around for rates. It was great since we didn't have to pay for points or broker fees.

Just so you know, the likeliness of your mortgage co staying the same is slim.
Ours has changed hands 2 times since we have it (4 years). Friends of ours had the same thing happen.
Your rate stays the same, all stays the same but the name of the company holding it changes.
Just an FYI, in case you didn't know.

We've only had our mortgage 10 months and it's already changed hands! We started with ABN Amro and they sold their mortgage business to Citi so now we're with CitiMortgage.

Our HELOC is with Chase. I pay online.
Our main mortgage was with Astoria Federal before it was bought by Wells Fargo.

Thanks, I did know that, but my impression was that it happens more with the smaller mortgage companies, rather than big banks like Chase. I may be mistaken though.
For everyone who had Chase as their bank at closing, were you happy with them? Were they upfront about all fees/closing costs?

i'm over the moon with chase! the conveniece of paying our mortgage is insane. ie. if I our mortgage is due today all I have to do is go to my online banking and make the payment and it hits the acct. in 5 minutes! talk about never being late! Chase has given us so many perks I guess we b/c we have gazillion accts. with them.
however, when it came to the closing costs.. they were wrong! they underestimated. our closing costs were about $3k more than what we thought. but at the end of the day everything worked out great & I'm in my new home! good luck and congrats!

Yes, we were told at CLOSING that our mortgage was changing hands. It's changed hands twice in the last 2.5 years. We've been with Chase for just over a year. No problems. I had to call customer service a few times when I had problems in the begining and they were somewhat helpful. But I had to call multiple times to get my problem solved. But it wasn't really a bad experience.

We are with Bethpage Federal Credit Union for our mortgage and they showed us a paper at closing that said they haven't sold a mortgage in 5 years, so ours will likely remain with BFCU.
But that it not the norm at all - so I know that. Maybe if you start with Chase you'll stay with Chase since they are a major company.

Did they sell some and not others? We have Astoria and it wasn't sold. I will cry if it is - I end up forgetting the mortgage and going through the drive-through.

We had Chase for the mortgage on our first home and I was happy with the service. We were using Chase for the mortgage on our second home but had to pull the loan at the end because they wouldn't close without a CO even though it was pending. They are a bit stricter now because of the sub prime crisis. Had I been able to wait the 6t weeks for the CO to come in, I would have stuck with Chase but the closing was already a few months behind because of the seller.

Chase and Citibank package and sell mortgages to raise money just as much as any other lender. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see them doing it more considering how hard they were hit in the whole sub-prime fiasco.
Our mortgage was sold before we went to closing and then 2x since. We're now with Citibank, but with the losses they announced this week I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it get sold again in the near future.
