BTDT moms of toddlers...help with toddler bed transition please
Ok...so we converted the crib on Tuesday.
She sleeps in it fine...it's the getting to sleep part we are having trouble with (or I'm just expecting too much too soon).
She opens doors now...so she gets herself out of bed, opens her door and stands at the gate saying "I want to cuddle cuddle".
This goes on 3-7 times a night (and for naptime). All in the span of 10-30 minutes.
How long will this go on?
And to top it all off....she is now waking up MUCH MUCH earlier....this morning it was 7:30am....
so nap time is earlier, and now we have to move bedtime earlier....

honestly i did not have any trouble...maybe because he is a little older than your daughter.
He knows how to climb out but he never does...he waits for me in his "car bed" as if it were a crib.
He was never really a climber

Omg if my daughter slept until 7:30 I would have a party...she is regularly up between 6-6:30!!!
Why did you convert the crib - was she climbing out??
About the door...I put a childproof cover on the inside doorknob of Talia's room so she can't get out. The stairs are RIGHT next to her room and even though I have a gate I don't trust it since she would probably hop over it or something crazy like that.
That being said, once she is in bed she usually doesn't come out...BUUUT some night I have a hard time getting her into bed. On those night I tell her I am going to leave, I don't want to play any games, I can only stay if she is in bed. If she doesn't go into bed at that point I leave...and she cries it out just as if she were in the crib, but the room is now like the crib.
I think you just need to go in, put her in bed..don't talk or play or anything - just put her down and walk out. It's JUST like the crying it out idea - after a while she will catch on to the fact that it isn't worth getting out of bed.
