Anyone have a Hoover Vacuum?

a "related post" reminded me that I've been wanting to ask this question on here....

We had an $ucked but not in the way a vacuum should. It barely did anything.

Then last Christmas my father bought us a brand new Hoover ---- a self-propelling one...the one with the red and green light to tell you if the carpet is clean.

I have hated it from the beginning, mostly because it is so darn heavy, but after about 3-4 months it just lost suction all together (like they say in the dyson commercial) and it barely does anything now.

We've taken it all apart, even used a screwdriver to take it apart to see if anything was clogged and we couldn't find anything. filters and bags have all been cleaned/changed.

my next step would be to take it to a repair place but i've always hated it so much that I just want to throw it away and buy a dyson, but my DH won't let me spend $400+ on a new vacuum.

just wondering what other people's experiences have been with Hoover vacuums. I hope its not just me!

I find that you get what you pay for especially on items like these.

I'm not a fan of the hoovers mostly because I haven't heard good things.

I know it stinks to spend the money, but get yourself a highly rated proven vacuum..

You can probably get something around $300 that could do an excellent job.

Hated them! Did your father happen to buy it at Costco? We've returned a 3 year old vaccuum to them because it stopped sucking. We're happy with our Dyson. I hate to say it but I really can tell the difference.
