How do you answer?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but how do you answer when people ask you when you're going to have kids? We put people off for a while, but the questions are starting to come again, and it's especially hard because we just m/c. I'm tempted to tell people that we WERE, just to shut them up and make them feel as uncomfortable with their question as I am, but it's really no one's business. And I KNOW with all the family we'll be seeing it's going to come up.

I DON'T. I change the subject/ignore the question and that hopefully gives them the hint.

Usually with "working on it"

I always get "when are you going to have more?"

I usually just say "one day" and change the subject.

I get out my Louisville Slugger and clobber them with it. That does the trick.

I usually say when the time is right.....No one needs to know how stressful it is TTC

What my DH told people before we had DD was that we were not planning on having kids for another 3-4 years.
We told them we wanted to be married for a little while before putting kids into the equation. So when we were preggo at our 1 year anniversary they were shocked.

So if you really feel like you need to say anything, just say we are not ready yet and leave it at that

i've been pretty lucky - they haven't been asking me much, but rather my DH!

when people do ask me, i just tell them that i enjoy my wine too much to be thinking about babies now

the people who know we are TTC never ask. and my mom doesn't know because she would be one of the ones asking!

Seeing as my hubby and I are both in our 30’s and we’ve been married for four years, yes, we get that question a lot. The answer “When we are done enjoying just being married” And it’s an honest answer.

I love being married to my husband, doing things as a couple on a spontaneous whim. I helped raise three children, I respect and appreciate the freedom and pleasure of being married without kids.

Do we want them? Sure? Are we trying? Well as of this month I am at least. But frankly it’s no one’s business why you don’t have kids or why you can’t say when you’ll get them.

Everyone makes ‘trying’ sound like studying for an exam. It’s not that simple. It happens when it happens, end of story. I am a little annoyed by the question, but I realize a lot of the time, it’s just social accepted norm to assume if you’re married that you must be trying to have children.

We get that question alot because we have been together for so long and are 30 & 31 even though we just got married. I just say soon and leave it at that. I've been lucky enough where people don't push it further, although MIL is constantly pouring me a glass of wine to check if I am and not telling. LOL.

I just say "Oh, probably sometime soon." Or "Hopefully sometime this year."

I heard that question a couple of time at my company Christmas party last night. I just used those responses.

I say something that really shuts them up. I usually say, well we tried last night and then early this morning. I'm beat!
