Be careful with what you leave in your car
Just a word of advice from our experience. Be careful with what you leave in your car.
DH has a pickup truck and it was parked in our driveway Saturday night (in the front part of it, my car was behind him) and someone pryed the back sliding window open and stole his IPOD and adapter out of his truck.
The police officer said that there were two other incidents like this in our area that night. The cop said people are after cell phones, IPODS, GPS systems, laptops and etc...
Please keep that in mind as the holiday season continues. Be careful!

The cop said that a lot of times they try to sell them in Pawn shops. So he took down the serial number of the IPOD and reported it stolen in case they try to sell it to a pawn shop.
and I agree it's tacky!

Sadly i had my GPS tom tom taken from my car , along with our cell phone car chargers.
I still leave my tom tom in the car, but i always remember to lock my doors. FH left them unlocked ONE time!!!

that's terrible! Last year, I interned in NYC and took the train in. One day when I was walking from the train to my car, I noticed my window was down and I was shocked that I would've left it open. Turns out, someone smashed it and stole my new radio right out of the dashboard. It was perfect for the thief because people leave their cars in the parking lot for hours and it was never patrolled.
THese people are awful - all I can say is karma's a b*tch! So Sorry that happened to you.

The irony is that DH's truck was locked. they slid open the back window in the truck and took it out. Apparantly some people don't care that a car is locked.

that's awful! 
on a side note, I was at a shopping center yesterday and parked next to a car with a satellite radio and a portable GPS mounted on their dash. I thought that was pretty dumb! esp after all the news reports I have seen lately about these types of thefts.

On a sidenote too, one of our salespeople left his laptop in the car overnight when it was below freezing recently, and the liquid crystal display screen became a solid crystal display screen and it messed up the inner workings, so even if it's out of site, don't leave your computer in the car in cold weather!

I did that once many yrs ago with my work laptop. when I got to work the next morning, I had to call the help desk b/c it was taking forever to boot and I didn't know why.... until they asked me if I left it in the car lol. I never did that again.

Last year on news years eve some crackhead came into my neighborhood from two towns away & opened every unlocked car door he could find & stole change, electronics, I had a huge bag of christmas returns in my car. It was terrible. They caught him a few days later but I never got back any of my stuff.

2 fridays ago, my DH's car was broken into. His car was locked and alarmed. 8 other Cars were broken into that night. They smashed the back windows. Stole his GPS. Left his Sirius Radio but stole his GPS. He had his CPA exam so i had to stay home from work, Which i couldn't afford cuz my ever so lovely bosses  are giving us oss christmas eve and new years eve UNPAID, and wait for the glass people. My point is, Don't leave anything in your car. I keep my doors locked and my car alarmed but if they want to get in that badly they will.

Well unfortunately we didn't think that something such as an IPOD would be stolen from our locked truck in the front of our driveway. We have definitely learned our lesson but I never would have thought that someone would steal something from a vehicle in my driveway.

Really? I don't trust anyone to steal anything from anywhere.
I guess I was somewhat naive about the whole thing. It's not that I am trusting people it's that I like to think that people in this world are better than that. Clearly, I was mistaken.
