back from my IUI...
It was painless, quick and easy. I am very depressed though because DHs count was very low - I'm so embarrassed, it was not even 10 million. So I would say my chances of success are about zero.
The whole way home all I kept thinking about was how this whole thing ***** and is taking over my life. Why does this have to be like this. And i feel like this mean person because all I keep thinking about is how depressing the holidays are going to be for me.
Thanks for letting me vent, I know I'm not the only one trying to get pregnant here.

Re: back from my IUI...
Well I'm glad the procedure was easy but don't stress about DH's count. I'm sure it was fine and there are many IUIs with low counts that are successful. It is over now so all you can do is wait, and you never know!!! Believe me I know it is hard but try to stay positive.
Good luck, hope your 2ww goes quickly! Praying for some BFPs in two weeks!

Re: back from my IUI...
I was just thinking about you - wondering how it went. Don't worry about the count - I mean IUI's help them get to where they should be so you don't need as many!
Good Luck & hang in there!

Re: back from my IUI...
Was that 10 million post or pre wash.
We had less than that and still got pg (post wash).

really? Sadly, I think it was pre-wash, but I did not really get into it b/c I was so uptight and thought there was nothing I could do at that point anyway.

You were in my thoughts too today. I hope all goes well for you. Can someone please explain the wash process of the semen?

Re: back from my IUI...
Hope that you get good results...and don't worry about the count too much. The best part of IUI is it gets them where they need to be.

Thank you, I know you're right. I guess "it only takes one", right?

Re: back from my IUI...
Sperm processing, or washing, is usually performed to prepare a fresh semen sample for IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) or other ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) procedures. Sperm washing achieves two very important goals. First, it removes most of the seminal plasma from the semen that would otherwise not react well if directly inseminated into the uterus. Second, it concentrates the sperm density into a small volume that is suitable for intrauterine insemination. In some cases, sperm washing may also enhance the forward progression of the sperm or the percent motility. The Regular Wash is the standard wash that is usually sufficient for most patients samples. A Complete Semen Analysis is performed on the specimen before the wash process begins. The sample is then carefully mixed with a washing media, centrifuged and remixed with washing media, and concentrated down to a volume suitable for IUI. A post-wash semen analysis is then performed to determine the final outcome of the procedure and to calculate the total number of motile sperm in the IUI prep, which is now ready for insemination.

It did not hurt at all. If you can handle a pap, this is very similar!!
