Is my baby weird?! (w/pic)
Hes 12 weeks...
lately hes been sleeping on his back, with his head completely turned to his right and completely turned up. It looks sooo uncomfortable. I found him this morning this way but on his side so I'm assuming maybe he will be rolling over soon, but is this sleeping position odd or has/does your DC do the same? TIA!
eta: Here, hes doing it now in his boppy

Re: Is my baby weird?!
DD tends to lean to her right side and I noticed that when she stirs in her sleep, she does point her head up. I think it looks uncomfy too!

Re: Is my baby weird?!
Just be careful, sleeping like that can lead to muscle problems and I think (please girls, correct me if I am wrong) torticollis and plagiocephaly (sorry to be so negative sounding) but if you can nip that in the bud...do so now!!!
But he does look pretty bloody cute!

Jack sleeps with his head always facing the left (when he's in the swing) - I know when he starts looking that way that it's almost time for him to pass out!

I don't know if sleeping like that can lead to torticollis but it can be a sign of torti. My 5 yr old had it when he was small and a lot of times their head is turned to one side, esp when sleeping. He was born with it. Of course any amount of sleeping in the same position can lead to the plagiocephaly (my DS had a fairly mild case of this as well as a result of the torti)
I'm not saying your DS has this - and it's not as bad as it sounds if he does, it's a weak neck muscle and is corrected with PT and some minor changes at home in most cases - but I would definitely tell your pediatrician about how he sleeps.
I agree, he is soooo cute!

DD would always do it too. It would start with her rooting toward that side- like she was trying to suck on the pillow in her swing/ bouncer. Eventually, she'd just pass out like that.
ETA: The cuteness factor of both pics are unbelieveable

DS does that too, either side, depends on his mood. Guess it could be bad as stated above.

DS does it also... looks so completely uncomfortable, but apparently it doesn't bother him!

Re: Is my baby weird?! (w/pic)
Ms DS prefers to sleep/lean to his left. We try to encourage him to go both ways. Yep, I realize the double meaning in that but I had to say it anyway. We asked his doctor and she said for now just to do what we can so that he does not get a flat head on one side. I am going to keep asking her about this if it continues.

Re: Is my baby weird?! (w/pic)
I dont think its that weird - but I wanted to say that Cailen has the same bouncy seat and its the best seat ever - it saved my life - it was the only thing he'd sleep in for months...I brought it everywhere with me - friends and family get togethers, cafes in Shelter Island, wherever - he was always so cozy in it!
And he's now 8 mts old and still sits in it to drink his bottle and to settle down for nightime - he leans against it when standing on his knees and bounces against it... its his comfort seat...
Best seat ever!!!!
