recommend a realtor?
Has anyone had a good experience with a realtor they could recommend? We're looking in the RVC area, nothing further east than Seaford
Also - how do you find open houses?
thanks.. i know its a lot of questions, but i'm new to all this house hunting

Re: recommend a realtor?
Hey Rachel-
Welcome to the house hunt! We can all be poor homeowners together!
Brad and I are using a real estate agent who we really like. She's a friends of Brad's mother's friend (who Jeremy probably knows from their synagogue). If you're interested, I'll give you her info.
As far as open houses go, that's how we started looking. Go on mlsli.com and do an open house search. You can set it up so that you receive daily emails with new open houses based on the criteria that you specify. You can also set up a homematch, where it emails you every new or updated listing that meets your criteria.
Give me a call or email me with any questions! Hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving!
Jackie

Re: recommend a realtor?
We loved our realtor and we still keep in touch! She was very nice, and she was agressive but not pushy. And the thing that I liked the best about her was that she only showed us things in our price range that met our criteria.
Here's her website - Lauren Shulman

Re: recommend a realtor?
I'm not sure how bold or resourceful you are but there's nothing saying you have to hire a realtor at all.
Just putting it out there.
We set ourselves up with custom searches and HomeMatch emails on MLSLI.com, I did all the legwork on calling and getting appointments, mapped out the locations on Google Maps, kept an organizer with contact information, folders, etc.
I will admit, after a couple of months, it was a little daunting. My cellphone took a beating. But in the end, we found what we wanted on our own.
If you do go to open houses without a realtor though, be aware that once you sign your names on the sign in sheet and list yourselves as not having a realtor, there is an expectation that you will not get one later to broker that deal.
Good luck with your search!

Erin Contino at Ed McNulty Realty. We liked her b/c she wasn't pushy and annoying. She kept on top of everything to the point where it felt almost like she was working for me, even though i knew she wasn't.
good luck!

Re: recommend a realtor?
Maria Nardi at Century 21 American Homes, Hempstead tpke. She was not pushy at all and showed us stuff only she would move into. I had another realtor and he was so mad I went to her she found our house the first week, I had been with him for months!
