? about spitting up after eating
my 3 wk old BF son has recently started spitting up after most feedings at night. this usually happens around 9 -11 ish for his feedings as he nurses. the milk doesn't come up curdled, it seems like it just pours out of his mouth much the same way it went in...then he gets the hiccups.
has anyone gone through this...if so, what helped you and your child, what can i do?

I know the hiccups are very normal...my ped said they are common after feedings till about 6 weeks old

My doctor said to burp DD more often during the feedings. I just went to the doctor today, so not sure if that works yet!

I remember this happening to me a lot when DD was that age. Usually it was because DD was sucking for the comfort but had stopped swallowing. So when you say it comes up like it went down and doesn't even look digested, it might be. Maybe the milk was never swallowed. Maybe listen for swallowing and after you hear it stop, you can stop.

My DS spits up like that when my milk comes too fast (if I am engorged) or if he guzzles it.

i think that's what's going on...but he puts his hands to his mouth as if he's starving when i assume that he's just sucking for soothing. he gets aggrivated w/a pacifier...
where's the handbook when u need one?

when he nurses at night and my breasts are engorged, it doesn't happen...which i woiuld think that it would...i guess i have to wait it out and see like the pps said..
