If DH isn't going to be home I usually have cereal or soup for dinner, sometimes I'll cook, but generally I'll just be lazy Chat Icon

Nope. I either eat a bow of cereal, a handful of pretzels or I don't bother eating. I'm not a big dinner person anyway.

Re: do you cook for yourself if dh is not going to be home?

My husband has school 2x per week and I don't generally cook for myself. I have 2 sons - so something is always on the table - but I let them choose so it is never anything big. Strictly kid friendly fare - like... baked cutlets with veggies or mac and cheese or grilled cheese & soup or cut up fruit with peanut butter and cheese with slices of ham...

I generally don't eat anything on those days - I just feed them and I do dishes and clean up and chat with them while they eat.

Then I snack later when Rob gets home.

the most I would "cook" would probably be a grilled cheese sandwich. I am not a big fan of cooking. so if DH wasn't coming for dinner, I wouldn't bother.

Not usually.

If he travels for work and will be gone a few days, he usually prepares some meals for me and freezes them before he leaves.

He knows I wont cook for myself, and he wants to make sure I eat a real dinner. If left up to me, I'd have a bowl of cereal or a candy bar and a donut for dinner.

Re: do you cook for yourself if dh is not going to be home?

My boyfriend works some overnights...so on the nights that we're home together I make big meals, so that the next day he can take leftovers to work for his dinner, and I have leftovers at home for mine. Either that or I'll make soup or cereal..

Sometimes because FH is a picky eater so on those nights I might make myself something I normally wouldn't because he won't eat it... but usually it's just chips and salsa or popcorn...

I sometimes make my favorite thing, like a lovely beautiful steak on the BBQ, or chicken wings, something I love that he doesn't really love too much.

No way, I take advantage of those nights and either eat soup, lean cuisine, or sometimes I'll pick something up to eat on the way home from work.

Re: do you cook for yourself if dh is not going to be home?

Usually, if he's not home, it's because he's working a night shift. In that case, I cook a whole meal for him to take for dinner the follwoing night, so yes- I will cook for myself. We just started eating the same thing ( the baby is definitely not a vegetarian), so now at least it's not 2 whole meals.

I do but I don't cook the same things I would if he were home. I usually wok some veggies and have that over brown rice. Other days I might eat a salad or a bowl of cereal

sometimes cereal or eggs. Maybe a couple slices of toast.

I keep lean cusine dinners in the freezer all the time, so sometimes I'll just have one of those.

He is the cook. I will usually get a turkey burger or have a lean cuisine pizza with a salad. I am addicted to those.

I will just eat a frozen vegetarian meal (boca, morningstar) that he would never eat.
