I really hate morning when I don't see my DS

This morning he was still sleeping when I had to leave for work. I stood over his crib for a while with my hand on his back. I hate having to leave without giving him a kiss and hug or holding him.

All I could think about on the drive to the train station was going back home and climbing into the crib with him (and of course then the image of it falling apart came to mind )

Thanks for letting me get that out....I just hate days like these. By the time I see him it'll be 24 hours since we last saw each other.

DS is usually awake when we go to daycare. But once in a while he falls back asleep on the ride there. I feel terrible if I cannot tell him good bye. Not that I don't feel terrible EVERY MORNING when I leave him there.

I can relate, kind of. We have to wake DD in the morning, feed her & change her, then pack her up for DH to take to his mom's for the day. So we don't get to play or interact much at all, and then it's almost 12 hours until I see her again.

It's so hard, but I'm sure you value your together time even more, like I do

DS is almost never up before I go to work.

I usually kiss his head before I leave.

This morning he was up and smiling and reaching out for me. It actually made it so much harder to leave him.

I know exactly what you mean. DD was up when I left, but DH was feeding her.

What kills me is last night when I got home, she was asleep- and DH and I had a meeting to go to from 8-9. She slept right up until we left, and was sleeping when I got home. The only time I actually saw her awake yesterday was for the 20 mins I was feeding her late last night.

It really makes it so much harder to leave.

I know what you mean..I leave my house at 6:30am, and sometimes dont get to see my boys in the morning...sometimes I like it because if Matthew sees me leaving he starts to cry and that makes me more upset

I'm so sorry!! I know it's hard...

If DS doesn't wake up on his own by 6:00 a.m. - 6:15 a.m., I have to wake him to get ready for day care. DH leaves for work even earlier (day care doesn't open until 7 a.m.), so I drop him off every morning. I hate having to wake him when he's actually sleeping peacefully!!! I spend half the night up with him trying to get him to go back to sleep only to have to wake him up!!

I know how you feel, but on the flip side. I work afternoons into the evenings and I don't get to see him before he goes to bed 2 nights a week. I always go in to check on him as soon as I get home.

OMG I know exactly how you feel. I love, love it when he wakes up before I leave. When he is still asleep I give him a kiss and say " Mommy Loves you" and hope that he hears me in his dreams.


This is also the reason why I have such a hard time going out at night with friends or DS on aweekday, because I work F/T so if I go out it will be 24hours before I see him again, and I feel like DS is going to think "where did mommy go??"

ETA: I think its definitely harder on us than on them.

Thanks so much everyone.

DH takes DS to daycare and I pick him up but this week has been different because DH is working in LI. So he drops him off and picks him up and they both get the chance to sleep late. Normally I help get him ready in the morning since we all have to be out at the same time. But today they got to sleep in and for as much as I wanted to wake DS I just couldn't do that to DH.

It's just so cute to see DS sleeping in the crib. His little hands near his face...he just looked so warm and cuddly. And I do wonder if when he wakes up he thinks "what happened to mommy - Where did she go?"

aww i know..I hate when i pick him up from daycare and he's sleeping in his carseat already..i just want to kiss him

I agree...that can be so tough. Just think of that beautiful smile you will see when you get home though.

i just went back to work...last night about 10pm DS was up playing in his crib...i grabbed him and kissed him for 10 minutes,,,,i needed it!! i cant stand that i only see him for about 45 minutes a day now

I know exactly how you feel! I didn't see him last night then this morning, I was working from home and saw him, but didn't spend quality time with him
