Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
We've been in our house 7 years and I still don't feel settled! So many things to do, so little money.
I think once we got our Master Bedroom in order, it started to feel like home, even if the rest of the house didn't.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
If by settled you mean comfortable living here then I would say about 2 months.
But if you mean getting everything done that you want, I would say never. Or at least not for a long time. There are definitely still projects I want to do.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
I would say it took about 1 year. We bought the house before we were married & I didn't move in until after the wedding. By the time we got all the boxes all unpacked & items settled in, it was about 1 year. Of course, now that we are in the house for 2 years, I would say we are more settled in. In the beginning we didn't furnish all the rooms, so now they are pretty much all done.

We are here 3.5 months and still have about 20 boxes in one room. We can't put them away until we do the dining room and family room. I can't wait for DH to start it this weekend because I still don't feel like it is my house.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
We've been in the house about 6 months now and for the last 2 months, we've felt somewhat settled - enough to cook dinner and relax and watch tv after work and on weekends instead of having to do some project.
That being said... we still have 2 boxes left to unpack, our office is a mess because we need to get storage for it, we need a bedroom set (at least new dressers) because a lot of our clothing currently lives in rubbermaid bins, and we need to replace a kitchen cabinet and storm doors asthetically.
We went to visit friends who have lived in their house for 3 years over the summer and I commented on how homey it looked. All they had to do when they moved in was paint and furnish and add a new deck. I was so jealous of how homey their place felt compared to ours, but, DH reminded me how long they had been there which helped!

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
I have to say, I moved in last weekend and it really feels like home already.
Granted, we have like no furniture, but we only have about 6 boxes left to unpack which is misc. stuff.
We got lucky, all we needed to do was basically paint and move in. Right now we are getting the skylight closed up in the master, so we are staying in the guest room till Sunday.
I know we feel some what settled because we are already inviting people over all the time and really feel proud when people come into our home.
There is a ton of $$ to be spent, but it's all good

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
We've been in 4 months and while it definitley feels like home, there's still a lot I want to do. But I don't let that get me overwhelmed or keep me from feeling settled. Now that the holidays are on the way, I'm definitley more giddy and excited about my home.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
Well, we've owned the house for about 6 months and have lived there for about 1 month, we are definitely not settled yet, there's still a million things to do. I would say another 6 mos or so until the house is completely done.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
For me to get used to it being my house and not going home to my mom's house...about one yr.
For us to be settled...it's been two years and we're still doing renovations, but we like it!

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
it took me a long time, like a couple of years. I felt "at home" but I was unsettled with rooms not totally decorated. It took me about two years to start hanging stuff on the walls & then when I did I felt so much better. Recently we switched around a couple of rooms & how we use them & that has helped, the house works better for us this way. We still have millions of projects to do, but its ok its gives us something to look forward to.

About 5 months. I wanted to redo a ton of things before I finally felt settled. Now I feel like I'm home. I'm very comfy.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
I felt settled once boxes weren't everywhere. BUT!!! I'll get an itch here and then and think that there is still so much to do. That always makes me feel like we're never going to be settled.
Disclaimer: we only moved on September 22 of this year.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
A year later and we're still in construction mode with our latest project. So while my house feels like my home, the last 2 months have been unsettling b/c the living room was turned upside down and inside out.
I don't really see it changing b/c we have a few other large projects on our plate - do we build upstairs (includes a dormer) or do we build downstairs (finish 1/2 the basement) or do we gut the kitchen?

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
We've been in our house 2 months and though we've unpacked all the boxes, we are nowhere near settled. I guess settled to me will be when we find places to put odd things that have no spot now, or when we decorate. It still looks like we are barely moved in.

We've been in our house for four months and we're still not settled. We put off doing a lot of stuff till the winter. We have one room just full of boxes still.

Re: How long did it take you to get fully settled in your house???
well.. we bought ILs house from them, so it didn't really take long for us. we were already used to the layout, the neighborhood, the nieghbors, the area. we also were able to move things over little by little and not do it all in one weekend, so that helped with the unpacking and stuff, too. so i would say in about a month we started to feel settled in. i think somebody else had a good point that once our bedroom was painted and set up the way we wanted it, it was even better. NOW, we have to work on making the rest of the house " ours" and start to update the bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
