Flu shot - where do you get yours?

At my appointment tonight my OB highly recommended the flu shot since the baby will be too little to get it. DH already gets his through work.

Is it worth trying to get an appointment with my primary care, or can I just sign up at like CVS or Eckerds when they have them?

Is one better than the other?

I go to my doc because he can make a record of it. He also knows what batch of stuff he gave me. I don't know if it matters, but that's just the way I would do it.

Also, to add, I am not pregnant.

Re: Flu shot - where do you get yours?

My company offers them and I am going to get it from the health center. My ob wanted me to get it so I checked with her and she said it was fine.

My ob told me to try and get a dose that does not have mercury in it and if that isnt possible to try and get 2x the childrens dose since that dosnt have mercury in it. IF and only IF those two options were not available then get the normal adult dose.

The ingrediant that you don't want is Thimiserol, check first, but I don't think the dead virus contains it. (I could be wrong) just call the Dr that is giving you the shot beforehand to make sure it is a thimiserol free vaccination.

Yes my ob did tell me to make sure it is the dead virus and not the live one.

My Dr. told me not in the first trimester. So I have to wait until the end of November.

Yes the live one is a nasal spray and the dead one is the one they inject into your arm

Re: Flu shot - where do you get yours?

thanks ladies! My primary care called me back and said my best bet is a flu clinic at CVS or Rite-Aid or something. Their office is already low on the flu shot.

He said if that didn't work, to call the Dept of Health, because the state does set some aside for pregnant women.
