Ill be using the dreft. I think its a good idea to use something special at least for the first few months when the baby's skin is still so sensitive.

I will be using dreft, at least for the first couple of months. I use the gentle cycle.

Re: washing baby clothes...

I already use detergent free of any perfumes or dyes. I'll ask my OB but I think that's really all you need is something without all the extra unneeded chemicals.

I'm planning on using Dreft in the beginning, and I may try a dye & perfume free detergent if baby is okay with that.

Re: washing baby clothes...

I bought one HUGE bottle of dreft at BRU the other day, I am going to wash all her clothes with it before she gets here and a few times after and then try some of the cheaper free and clear detergents.

I just switched to All Free & Clear for not only the baby's clothes but also our clothes and sheets.

I'll probably go with All Free & Clear so we can all use it.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference what temp you use? I wash most of our clothes in the warm/cold cycle. Is it the same for baby clothes?

I used Dreft with DD for 6mths, then realized it's not pratical with all the laundry we do. This time around I will be using what I use for everyone's laundry. All Clear- no fabric softner or dryer sheets.

I'm not sure what the right answer is but we just got a new washing machine that has a "baby clothes" cycle on it and it will only let you choose Hot or Warm. When we washed everything for the first time we did it all in delicate cold because I was afraid of what they would look like once they came out. I guess once she is here and starts to make a mess of her clothes I'll use the other setting.
