Heartburn sufferers come in.....

I know of what foods to avoid, but can anyone recommend things to eat that seem not to bother you? It seems like no matter what I eat, I have problems.

I am taking Tums, tried pepcid and drink a lot of milk, which sometimes helps sometimes doesn't. It isn't so bad that I want to look into a prescription (if that is even available) - I feel like I can stick it out for 2 more months. I am just trying to find ideas of what to eat. TIA!

Ugh- mine has no rhyme or reason.
Yesterday I got it from Yogurt.
Friggin rediculous.
I eat tums, but they don't really help. I only suffer maybe once or twice a week- it's so random though, that I don't want a daily prescription.

HA I got heartburn after yogurt too the other day. Doesn't matter what I eat, I can get heartburn off a piece of bread. So I just eat whatever I want, spicy, greasy, saucy, whatever... and take a Tums or Zantac afterwards.

believe it or not, i'd get it bad in early third trimester but it's mostly gone away so maybe when the baby starts to drop you'll get some relief. mine didnt have much rhyme or reason in terms of diet but pepcid did help me.

I get it from everything!!! TUMS do provide little relief. I try chasing everything with water.

Mine also has no rhyme or reason, I can't eat bagels, they give me REALLY bad heartburn. Tums are great and milk, my OB said if it is very bad I can take Zantac but I have been OK so far on the Tums. Try to avoid peppers and tomatoes, the skins are very hard to digest. Feel better Chat Icon

My heartburn also has no rhyme or reason. I take the tums smoothies prior to eating now and it does help a little. It doesnt stop it but it isnt as bad if I take 2 tums prior to every meal.

I am going to try this, thanks.

At least it's nice to know I am not alone. I have had it pretty consistently since the first trimester, but now I am 30 weeks and it is getting worse. Chat Icon

I get it from many different types of food, but I notice I get it really bad when I eat tomato sauce. It is probably the acidity in the cooked tomatoes that does it. Some things that I eat that seem not to set my heartburn off as bad are: toast, pastina, rice, bagels, potatoes, miso soup, avocado rolls, and nonfat yogurt ice cream or tofutti ice cream. Like the other girls said I always have tums around. I keep them in my pocket book and next to my bed.

Try eating smaller meals that is what helped me... As soon as i feel it i will eat a piece of fruit or something and it goes away...

As other posters said...mine has no pattern. Yesterday I got really bad heartburn and I was just drinking water. I just carry tums around with me everywhere.

mine has had no pattern except that drinking fluids by themselves make it worse. i have to take fluids with food, but even then i've been mostly miserable.

i take zantac twice a day and lots of tums, both of which help... but the bottom line is, i don't imagine i'll get real relief until this baby is no longer pushing on my intestines!

Re: Heartburn sufferers come in.....

knock on wood mine has been pretty ok.

Chicken noodle soup does give me heart burn, so I try to eat it early on.

But I've been having super spicy, tomato sauce, etc. and not much problem.

Re: Heartburn sufferers come in.....

I had it soooo bad with both pregnancys. Milk and dairy made it worse surprisingly! Ice cream made it really bad. The only thing that worked for me was the Rolaids Soft Chews. They taste better than the chalky tums!
