Re: RE: Short Term Disability
As far as I know maternity leave encompasses time you take before and after the baby. 6 weeks for vaginal and 8 weeks for c-section. You get 60% of your salary for that time. You can use vacation or unpaid time after that for a total of 12 weeks.
Short term disability is included in that maternity leave time.
I hope this answers your question.

Re: RE: Short Term Disability
It's been a while since I did New York STD, but if I remember correctly it's varies from company to company as to how much they pay (usually based on years of service).
It only starts when you are MEDICALLY no longer able to work. For most of us, that means when we deliver - unless there is an issue you do not get it if you go out early.
It's paid 6 weeks for a vaginal birth and 8 weeks for a C Section.
STD is what PAYS you. FMLA is what keeps your job protected - and that's up to 12 weeks. There's really no such thing as "maternity leave" anymore.
Hope that was clear.

That must be your maternity leave for your company because that is NOT NYS Disability.
STD is 6 weeks for a v birth and a 8 weeks for a c sections at a maximum of $170 per week for 5 weeks for a v birth and 7 weeks for a c section (you have a one week waiting week)
IF you are eligible for FMLA, then you would get an additional 6 weeks (v birth) or 4 weeks (c section) unpaid before they could fill your postion. Your company has to have 50 employees and you have to have been employed by them for a year or more to be eligible for FMLA.
