fall apple and pumpkin picking
Has anyone been to Lewin farms in Wading River? I live in Smithtown and wanted to do the apple/pumpkin picking thing a weekend in October. I would appreciate any suggestions.

We went pumpkin picking their 2 years ago's with my SIL and her family and the kids loved it, so did I.

They just had an article in Newsday yesteday with farms and best places to pick pumpkins and apples.We definately want to go this year!

I have never been.
This year we are doing apple picking in NJ with my sister and her kids, and pumpkin picking at White Post Farms here on LI with my sister and the kids.

Love Lewin. It does get REALLY crowded close to Halloween on the weekends (the road going there off of the LIE can be backed up to an hour...).

Lewin is a great farm but there are also many other farms lining Sound Avenue so if it's crowded just drive further east, you'll find plenty.

My family goes pumpkin picking every year, since I was born on Sound Avenue. We don't usually go picking at Lewins, but we always stop there for produce and mums. We usually drive up Sound Avenue and pick a farm that looks good. We don't tend to stop at the same place every year, but we always go to Lewins.
