Not that I feel the need to defend myself here, but for those of you who feel I was being judgmental, maybe you should go back and read my original post.
I never said I hated Disney or said anything bad or judgemental about anyone. I merely asked why some people go there for every vacation, and never go anywhere else.

Re: I don't understand...

I don't understand why people are obsessed with Disney. Wouldn't they want to go other places. Then people went on to say why would people go there on their honeymoon. Thats pretty judgemental.

I think those people were just stating an opinion.

I think had they said something like, "whoever goes to disney world on their HM is an idiot" or "anyone who goes to disney when they don't have any children is just stupid" then I would say they were being judgemental. But saying that they wouldn't go w/o kids or for a HM is just stating their opinions, IMO... Chat Icon

Am I making any sense?

If they had said "I didn't want to go to disney on my honeymoon" it would be different.

If anyone is interested:

The int'l food and wine festival. Their is also an Int'l flower festival but the Disney servers went down and I cant get info on it.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

EVENT DATES:
September 28 - November 11, 2007

EVENT TICKETS:
This event is included with regular Theme Park admission. However, some exclusive Wine & Culinary Programs and Festival Dining Experiences require an additional admission fee.

.

My DH and I were here for this about 2 yrs ago. We really liked it. we were with family and a few nights we went up to Epcot on our own to partake. Disney is OK--it was fun during this festival. I will probably return when I have kids

Re: I don't understand...

I went to Disney for the first time in 10 years this past July and LOVED it!! I travelled with my husband, parents, brother and sister all over 21 and we had a great time. We went 5 or 6 times as kids and as an adult it is a totally different experience. The thrill rides are great... some are really intense... and I love the world showcase in Epcot. It was the perfect family vacation for us!

Re: I don't understand...

I have never been; DH thinks I'm a communist. The reason I know my parents never took us is because my sister is disabled, and back then, it wasn't very handicapped friendly. We went to places like Lake George instead where you don't stand in lines and have to be a certain height and weight to enjoy things. I don't feel like I missed anything. But I also don't care if someone else wants to honeymoon in Disney. That's like saying, "Be original; why does everyone go to a Sandals resort?" Because people do what they like and who cares....

Sweet Tooth, in all fairness, you get pizzed about people saying things about LI/your hometown, etc. so I'm sure you could understand why some are offended when you single out adults who like Disney and kinda mock them.Chat Icon

alright alright. I don't really care that much, it was just a question.
If people really are so offended, I will ask for this thread to be removed. It was not my intention to offend anyone.

And for the record - I do like Disney. DH and I have talked about going there. So if I was mocking people then I guess I was mocking myself too.

I can only speak for myself, but... I wasn't personally offended by any means, and like i said, if it were my *only* vacation each year, then i def wouldnt want to go every year (DH- he's another story Chat Icon ).. BUT.. i just don't see the point in these threads. I could understand if there were lots of threads that said "OMG DIsney is the best place in worlddddddddd" plastered all over NFR... but there arent... yet, every few months, someone starts a "i dont get the disney appeal" thread, and i wonder WHAT the point is to it???? If you dont like it, then dont... no one's telling you that you have to... but why start a thread just to criticize those that do? Chat Icon

Im not sure anyone was really offended (well maybe the people who went to Disney on their honeymoon) but I was trying to say that it came across like people who went to europe on their honeymoon were better then the people who went to disney. Thats just the way it came across

Re: I don't understand...

I went to Disney in 2004 before I got PG with DD. Had a BLAST with DH, we got drunk at Epcot (drinking around the world), had a great day at Magic Kingdom, and went to Pleasure Island (PI for those that are down)

We went back this year in an attempt to salvage a terrible trip to Jamaica...it was such a great two days, I wish we had just done it with Bella in the first place instead. It really is a great place...I didn't go drinking around the world again, but I got to see her light up on the Dumbo ride, stare at the It's A Small World People, and wave to Mickey during the parade...and she is still a little young for true appreciation.

I can't wait to go back with her...am I obsessed no...but I think it's a cute institution. Like Deb said, some brides are obsessed with colors and other details of a wedding, what's the big deal of other obsessions. Some people are obsessed with sports, car racing, TV shows, etc...

I didn't see the original post as judgmental- but as a genuine question. Why do some people like Disney so much? WHy do some people go to the same place over and over?

And I think there have been some great answers. One poster said they like to feel like a kid again, someone said they is a lot to do, nice hotels, etc...

Thats exactly how I took it....

since I went on my honeymoon instead of Europe...what we were supposed to do orignally....but due to 9/11 had to change plans....it was almost like if you went to Disney...it was dumb...

again...to each his own...I have no desire to go to Europe every year but there are people that do it...more power to them....
