My aunt lives in Mahopac (I think its Dutchess, but I am not sure) and I love it up where she lives.

Mahopac is nice. It's Putnam county though. We looked in that area. In Orange we looked at Monroe and Warwick. We ended up on LI bc for the most part both our families are here, but I loved it up there.

These towns are all nice. Tuxedo is also nice. We have friends who live in Florida, NY and like it a lot too.

I used to live in Dutchess in the Poughkeepsie/Hyde Park area. I was not a fan. Woodbury is a nice area....

My friend says it's in the middle of nowhere but her ex bought a house in Middletown which is supposedly a nice area.

You can try Stanford, Pleasant Valley and LaGrangeville. Used to work around those area's.

Hopewell Junction.........2005 CNN Money Mag best places to live. Forgot what number I think it was #10.
We've been up here for 3 years and LOVE it. Southern Dutchess County has a lot to offer without being over congested.

I think you mean Sugarloaf
I would also add that Washingtonville is worth a look, anything aside from what was already mentioned would be considered beyond Southern Orange Cty. Even Goshen is more mid-county - not sure how far you want to go.
