Quick DVR question
We just got Cablevision and DVR on Saturday and I am taping my soaps for the first time. Does the TV need to stay on while the show is taping? Probably a stupid question, but I am technologically retarted!

Re: Quick DVR question
Nope. TV can be off. DVR will still catch it.
Um... the DVR and the TV should be plugged into each other and into the wall.

I don't know HOW it is set-up. The whole thing is just amazing to me how it tapes without a tape, and can pause a live program- told you I don't get technology! All I know is that there are 2 buttons on the remote to turn it on and off- TV and Cable. Just wasn't sure if they needed to be on to record.
Yup...retarted!

Re: Quick DVR question
Did you schedule it to record, or simply press record?

Re: Quick DVR question
I just pressed record. I didn't get too far with the "scheduling" part yet.
And I must say, I just watched my soaps and did the 4xfast forward thingie to go fast through the commercials. OMG...awesome!!
Yup...gotta love technology!

Re: Quick DVR question
We have a DishNetwork DVR. 4yo DS loves the "yellow button" (pause). That way, he can pause his show while he goes to the bathroom...
He's also figured out how to hit the rewind button, so when the show is over, he can rewind it to watch it again!
I think the list of recorded shows also helped him learn to read. We would scroll through the shows (most of them are his... ), and he would recognize the show he wanted to watch.
