Anyone do this with their credit card (s)
I just got a credit card again...trying to get my credit rating up by having a major CC. Anyway...I heard somewhere that you should write in the space provided for the signature "please see my ID" instead of your signature to combat ID theft. IS this true? Anyone else do this??? Thanks

i dont but that sounds like a great idea!
only problem is that 9 times out of 10 the person at the register never looks at the back of the card anyway!

I have had my debit card checked a lot recently....good that people are finally checking..ID theft is so rampant

Most stores don't even handle credit cards anymore -- it's all that do it your self scan your own card thing.

Kind of related, but have you noticed that a lot stores don't even require a signature on a credit card purchase anymore? That really bothers me.

that's a good idea. i was just at the cleaners and used by debit card. they put it through the machine then gave it right back. i know i go there a lot, but they should still check. i'm careful with credit cards. i had identity theft done. not only is upsetting its also scary

Yes, you can do that. When I worked in the supermarket, I had customers who did that.

I do it! More often than not, they don't even check to see, but the few that do, I always feel better knowing they need to see my ID. Not a hassle at all, very worth it.

Same here. I also always make a point to say THANK YOU to the person that checks it....hoping they'll continue doing it.

I think this is only if the purchase is under a certain amount, like $25.

ITA. I hope they keep checking because I don't sign my cards.

It's a great idea but I can't tell you the last time someone actually checked my signature. And I also use my DH's card and sign his name and nobody ever checks it. I'm so tempted to sign Daffy Duck and see if anyone catches it.

People definately do it.
But I agree that no one ever checks anymore, my SIL uses my BIL's card every.single.day and it is one of the BOA cards with his picture on the front and no one ever questions her about it

DH does this to our card. Honestly though, I have had someone ask me maybe a couple of times for the ID, no one ever looks at the back.

I do but its a joke cause the people don't even look and read the info.
Most stores, you can swipe the card yourself. The whole system of credit cards is down hill and should of been corrected a long time ago when it started. then people wonder how fraud can happen

I dont sign the back of my credit cards...I write "please see ID"...only a few people have actually asked to see it though

my old roomate did that. I think it is a great idea.
The only thing was she wanted me to return something for her on that credit card. I refused because of that.
