Have you ever called an employer...
to tell them you needed more time to think about the position they offered you? Does that make you seem like you aren't interested??? Even if you tell them you are...
Ugh.

Re: Have you ever called an employer...
actually i have.
i have always been totally honest.
been like, listen, changing jobs/careers is a very big step and change in my life and i would just like to make absolutely sure i'm doing the right thing. I dont want to do something without knowing this is the best possible path for me and my husband.
i appreciate your patience and will get back to you with a decision as soon as i can.
please also know that this has nothing to do with other job offers, it is just a personal choice with me.
hope to help a bit!

Re: Have you ever called an employer...
I haven't done that, but I can say that I work in a college now and am in the process of making offers to start SOON--before the start of the school year--so if people took over a week we probably would say we need someone to start in 2 weeks or sooner and need a commitment before then.
Depends on how long you need to think about it-from Friday to Monday is fine, but a week to me is too long.

Re: Have you ever called an employer...
I would suggest that you call and let them know that you appreciate the offer and that you want to discuss it with your husband. Make it clear that you want to just them know that you will call on Monday - and that you didn't want them to think that you were avoiding them in anyway. They won't have a problem with it...but be prepared for them to ask you if there is a problem. Just tell them it's an important decsion and one that you want to give careful consideration to. It'll be fine.

I would suggest that you call and let them know that you appreciate the offer and that you want to discuss it with your husband. Actually I would not do this. It almost appears as though your DH is helping you make decisions (even though IRL it is a group decision) it may in an inadvertent way make your decision-making skills questioned by them.
