Spinoff to Who would you have a baby for?

If you are married, and you said you would be a surrogate for someone, what do your DH's think?

My sister is going through some stuff and she is not sure if she will be able to carry a child. So, we've spoken about this and DH does not mind at all, under on condition; she deals with my moodiness and cooks for me and rubs my feet

i don't have any children so it's hard for me to imagine giving one up. but if i did i would do it for a sister. i'm an only child though.

Not sure how DH would feel, have not spoken to him about it.....I think if it ever came to that, it is my decision but I guess he would need to be on board

I wonder what I would do if he did not want me to do it, I think I would still do it, not sure

I would do it for my brother and his partner, but I don't think dh would go for it.


They did this on an episode of A Baby Story, and I was really moved by it.

I have a friend who is currently trying to get pregnant as a surrogate for a Dutch couple who she hooked up through a charity, she is having trouble getting pregnant though. She loves being pregnant but doesn't want anymore children. I think its very generous. Her fiancee just left the office actually, he is completely happy with the idea.

I think if the price was right he might be ok with it At least that is what I think his answer would be. However, if the situation was real I think he would think twice.

I would only carry a child for my sister, or someone in my family if they were having problems and came to me.

ETA: My DH wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

I would definitely do it for my sister, but only my sister, and only if it were her and BIL's already fertilized egg being "deposited"! I would never use my egg or surrogate for someone other than one of my sisters.

i have a child.
dh doesn't.

i think he would only have an issue with it if it was BEFORE we had one together.

he's a very giving and generous person. i think he'd be ok with it.

I would do it for a close friend and my sister.
DH I think would have a problem with it though.

I don't think my DH would have a problem with it as long as we are using an already fertilized egg.

I couldn't have one for someone else. Sorry if that sounds selfish, but I know I couldn't give the baby up after I gave birth.

OMG, JT would have nothing but support for that decision. It is something we have already discussed.

I don't think my DH would like it especially b/c I don't want more kids and he could go for another 2.

If the situation arose I would respect his wishes and go from there.

Since I think I'd really only do it for my brother or DH's brother, I know he'd be 100% supportive.

Considering I don't want any children for myself, I couldn't have a child for another person. I don't at all look down upon those who do - In fact, I marvel at their selflessness. It amazes me that someone could be so generous, as I know it would be a difficult thing to do.

Well, we've never really discussed it. The only person I would do it for (my sister) has no trouble getting pregnant. But I don't think he would love it, but he wouldn't mind too much. He knows how much I loved being pregnant, and he is definitely not ready for another one. So if its their bun, and I'm just the oven, I would hope he would be supportive.

DH definitely didn't agree with it. I offered to 2 people while we were dating so he had no say in it.

I'm the type of person that would do anything for anyone. DH is COMPLETELY opposite. He has a hard time understanding that. Also he hasn't a clue as the pain someone with IF goes through.

I've seen 3 people close to my heart go through it. If I feel scarred by seeing them deal with it, I can't even imagine being the person going through it.

Now that we're married, if it came up, we would have to sit down & talk about it again. It would be tough to go through it without his support but I don't think it's a situation I could walk away from.

I think if I were willing to do it, he would be supportive. He would think I was crazy, but he would be supportive!

I wouldn't be a good canidate to be a surrogate...but if I was I probably would only do it for my sister.

I would definitely carry a baby for my sister... DH wouldn't mind at all.

while I haven't spoken to him about it- I think he would be very supportive if I was doing that for my sister

(and I glady would do it for her)

I dont think DH would go for it. He may if we had our own family first and were done, maybe, but I doubt it.
