So, I am not a "doomsayer" or anything like that but
my good Lord...if anything happens, there is no hope for us.
We New Yorkers are woefully underprepared.
might as well just stick you head between your legs and KYAGB!
I think I am investing in a boat of somekind...or maybe if nothing else, an inflatable life raft...our eastern border is the ATLANTIC OCEAN...and we can't handle water from a rain storm!

And not for nothing, but why is it that everytime we have a huge rain storm, they act like it's the first time this has happened? Didn't this same thing just happen a few weeks ago?

The infratructure around here is so old and not much $$ is spend on updating it. I have long said if they were predicting any kind of huge scale storm like a category 4 or 5 hurricane, I would be leaving LI and taking my family with me.

I think unless you have a boat and there is someplace safe to head, you are totally screwed.
You can't get off this island on a normal weekday without a problem, lord help us if everyone tried to leave at once!

I couldn't agree with you more...we are totally underprepared, overpopulated and panicky city...and we pay so much dang $$$ to live here too! And they want to raise the cost of the commute now as well!
Nature is taking toll on us as well...I have a feeling we're going to have some vicious weather this winter...

seriously, after watching people run like roaches with the lights on in downton Brooklyn, I think I'd rather wait out my inevitable death in bed with my husband...at least I'd go out with a bang!
and I think those of use in the city have a further disadvantage, b/c clearly our public transit system would be evacuation ANYONE.
I thank the lord for my precious car.
