Remember the fundraiser I planned?
Well, the woman who the fundrasier was for passed away today Her husband (my coworker) called me with the news a little while ago. He is very distraught. I am going to be away on a business trip this week so I will miss the services. Any suggestions on something I can do for him and his family?

Re: Remember the fundraiser I planned?
Oh my gosh Julz - I am so terribly sorry
I would maybe try and send a meal to them.
We planned for a family friends for the first day of the wake.
We called Honey Baked Ham and set them up with a HUGE meal (we knew they had a ton of people that were going to be at the house).

That's terrible.
I'd go with the meal idea that previous posters mentioned. The last thing the family will want to do is cook.

I would send something when you get back. They will probably have a lot of support and meals the first week after her death, but maybe not so much later on

Re: Remember the fundraiser I planned?
I agree that the meal thing is a great idea, however I would recommend getting gift certificates to a couple of local places.
When my dad passed away we got a TON of food - some of it didn't even get eaten. The GC came in really handy since my mom could use them whenever she didn't feel like cooking. I think that she even appreciated them more since she could use them after the first few weeks - when the phone calls and visitors started to slow down a bit - I think that is when she started to really deal with the loss.
