Those who are NOT TTC....
what aren't you?
I don't mean it interrogationally, but just curious what other people's reasons are for not TTC.
We never raelly got questioned about not TTC, but suddenly, within the last 2 weeks or so, it seems like everyone (family, esp) has been asking... almost like they gave us 2.5 years, but now they need to intervene?   
Usually i just mention school, and they understand... i guess that's an acceptable excuse?
So, i was just curious what everyone else's reasons were.

We have to wait until I receive tenure. Which hopefully will be this year, but officially it will not be granted until next September.

my reason has always been school too and finding a new place to live. We moved and school is half way done so I guess now it is finiancial reasons and just not being ready yet. Although we had a 5 yr plan, and we have adjusted it to 3

Ours is combination of money, house, and work related.
I want to be a SAHM mom and we can do it but we just want a little saved up for a rainy day. We finally have the house fully furnished but we both want a pool. We'd like to get the pool and enjoy it for a little     and I just started at the new company so I want to get a little established.
With all of that in mind it just seems like we'll never TTC anytime soon, but we talked about it and we may begin on our cruise in September. I may just have to name my kid Juan, Martin or Liberty

See, I'm tired of hearing the, "you're not getting any younger" thing. It's called MYOFB!!! People really have WATERMELON-SIZED BALLS with this.
I would NEVER ask someone how much $ they make, and I DEFINTELY wouldn't put in my .02 about when they are going to have kids.
RUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's how we feel too! there's no doubt in my mind that we will have kids one day, but we are enjoying traveling and not having that added responsibility for now. I always aimed for being married 5 years before having kids, and luckily we got married young enough so that we have that luxury. I always wanted this time together for us...To me the time when we are much older and our kids are eventually gone is not the same as these years when we have the energy to enjoy ourselves. Oh, and DH's brother has reminded me that some kids NEVER leave the nest, so you can't count on EVER having an empty nest after having kids!

Tell me about it. I seriously can't stand it anymore. We're waiting because of money/house issues. Meanwhile, if one more jackazz tells me I'm not getting any younger, I'm going to lose my mind.
It's none of their damn business.

This is the stage we are in right now. As much as I love children, I just can't imagine having one now. I love my time with DH as well as my alone time and I am not ready to give that up yet.
Our reason is twofold though, I am also in school. Though honestly I'm not sure if we'll ever be ready.

I am very career focused at the moment.
I have a lot of goals that I want to achieve and I am just NOT ready.
I hate this question (not for discussion here, but from people in "real" life) because everybody seems to say "what are you waiting for?"
It is such an ackward question, what are you supposed to say to that?? It isn't polite. You never know if people are having issues or not and I just think that it is inappropriate for people to constantly ask.

We are done having kids but I said money because that was our main reason. We also wanted to enjoy each other before we had kids and we waited 4 years before ttc.

By the time we start we'll be married 2.5 years... I always thought we'd wait like 5 years, but the biological clock kicked in (and I am 32 already)... but I have been at my job 6 months and felt it's just a bit too early, even though I worked with my current boss previously.
I am afraid for my life to change- but I am think I am ready for it.

i chose other because i fall under quite a few categories.
1. i'm still young, theres all the time in the world.
2. i'd like to travel some first/
3. i would like to be more financially stable.
4. i want to own something first, either a home, or a bar.

i honestly have no clue anymore.
i think for us its more about security. we want to make 100% sure we can provide for another life. but i'm not quite sure what dollar amount in the bank would make us feel comfortable. if God blessed us with a baby right now, we would welcome it with open arms!!!!

It's such a combintation of things:
Enjoying being married and the freedom of getting up and going whenever and wherever we want
My career
My maturity level- I am SO not mature enough to be ANYONE'S mother- and I know that.
Not sure if I will EVER want kids- right now I'm feeling that I might not ever be ready- and that's ok....

It's a little of everything.
1-$$$ Yes, I know they say you'll never have enough money, but in all honesty, we can't afford a baby/child. We both have to work and the idea of spending about $1000/month to have someone watch our child is unfathomable. DH's mom works, and when she retires, I don't think she'll want to watch a baby 5 days a week. My mom lives about 3 hours away. So family is not an option.
2-This is my tenure year as well. I will hopefully be granted tenure next September.
3-We have a one bedroom apt. We figure when the time comes, we'll stay another 1-2 years with a baby and look for something else.
I have been getting the question A LOT b/c we're going on 3 years married and it's probably the longest anyone in our family has been married without having a child.

We are married 5 years this month. Our reasons for holding off until now:
1. DH was going back to school for his masters (he graduated in May!!)
2. House situation.....we live in a 1 bedroom, living room & kitchen basement apt. in my IL's house. We do not have our own bathroom nor do we have a seperate entrance. So partly it's privacy related too.
3. $$$$$$ DH just graduated....the $$ for his new job SUX.......but he may have an opportunity for something better soon.
But as of this month we are done preventing pregnancy & taking it if it happens because I am done waiting! We will make it work at this point!
