C-Diff
My husband recently had a nasty case of C-Diff after a week in hospital with intravenous antibiotics for a nasty case of pneumonia. It seems to be a very popular bug to get these days....its pretty bloody nasty.
So to settle my own curiosity...has anyone here had it, or do you know anyone who has had it???

I just had it after my c-section. It was awful! It lasted about 3 weeks, and even now 4 months later, I still don't feel 100% right. FM m if you have any questions about it.

C-Diff is a sort of hospital bug that you can get if you are on large amounts of antibiotics. Its like a very violent tummy bug (vomiting and diarrhea) You get it when the good bacteria in your stomach is low and the bad bacteria takes over.
Here is some information about it.
C-Diff Information
We didn't know he had it until my mothers was telling her friend about how sick my husband was, and she said it sounded like C-Diff, we went to our GP and he did a stool sample for it, and sure enough...he had it. He has been on antibiotics now for almost 7 weeks straight.

Yep, Freddy had it. It lies dormant in your body most of the time. It can act up though.
He had it for weeks!
In fact he just had another bout of it.

No way! My son and I were around him the whole time he had C-Diff. He has been clear now for about 3 weeks, should we be concerned??? I cleaned the bathroom with antibac a lot, as I know that these kinds of things can be airbourne...

I'm not sure if it is contagious through the air, but I would check with your doctor to see if you and Noah should be tested as well. Washing your hands is extremely important...I think that is the way it is most likely spread.

My father had it and got it in the hospital. He was isolated in a private room for a while.

when I had it I was very concerned because I had a newborn. My dr said to just be extra careful to wash my hands thoroughly before I touched the baby, or anyone else.

Thats what we have been doing, taking acidophilis and wating tons of yogurt. I have been making my own live yogurt, but have had limited success!

I was going to say the same thing. Especially share a bathroom. I dont think its airbone, but if bodily fluids are on anything that you touch. TMI I know

When I was in the hospital one of my roomates had this and I had to move rooms, she was placed on isolation. Everyone who went in her room had to wash up and wear gloves. It's very contagious and I would just ask your ped and your GP about it to be on the safe side.

My grandmother got it in the hospital. It eventually was the final straw that killed her. Many older people die from it. It is because they usually have so many other things going on. She had it for a few weeks.
