Re: belly button piercing..
I took mine out just before I got pregnant. But I know others that have kept it in, so maybe they can help you better.

Re: belly button piercing..
I actually was going through chemo, and I also had numerous MRIs. (Can't have metal in an MRI machine) I had NEVER taken my ring out in 7 years, even to change it. (Very bad, I know.) I just loved the ring I had. It actually was stuck shut, so we couldn't even get it out. We ended up cutting it out with wire cutters.
It never got infected. The only thing I'm dealing with now, is that the area is the part that is the most itchy. It's almost as if that area wouldn't stretch like regular skin. (But I have a weird pregnancy with a gigantic baby and excess amniotic fluid. The doctors say my belly is stretched further than normal.)
I know some girls have kept their ring in well into the 3rd trimester. I wouldn't worry about an infection. Just clean it like you normally do.

I took mine out way before getting preggo, but I just took it out and there was no infection, soreness or anything. If you have had it done for a while, the skin should all be healed - just like taking out an earring.

Re: belly button piercing..
I took mine out at 12 weeks, much to my reluctance... but I have heard such horror stories about it stretching, I got nervous... now at 21 weeks, I couldn't imagine having it in!... It did not get infected... I just kept it clean with soap and water.......... Now, there is a noticable scar, but thats ok.... Hope this helps!

Re: belly button piercing..
i took mine out at around 24 weeks with my first pregnancy. i wish i would have done it sooner because the scar is the only stretch mark i have. for whatever reason my scar stretched and made me not like my belly button PP.

I answered on parenting, but I took mine out at 12-13 weeks. Didn't want it stretching.

Re: belly button piercing..
I took mine out at 12 weeks with DD and I would put it back in about once a month just to make sure it wouldn't close. After I had DD I put in right back in when I got home from the hospital. With this pregnancy I took it out at 8 weeks and I am doing the same thing. I had it for so long I don't want it to close.
