Re: Tattoo'ers
That is a BEAUTIFUL tattoo!! Maybe put it on your lower stomach so you can see it?
Posted by BNL2005
I have 5 tats. All in places you can't see when I'm fully dressed, in a bathing suit you can see them all. I choose to have them put there so I can easily cover them up. that was my reasoning. i'm not a fan of the arm tat or shoulder tat.
I have one tat on my lower back but this was my reasoning for why I put it there.
I want another one on the side of my foot.

Re: Tattoo'ers
The tat is beautiful - I love the meaning. I am all about wrist tat's right now...I would get it there (especially if you want to see it every day).
I like the idea of putting it on your shoulder - almost like it's looking over you, protecting you.
You will not need pain killers! The "pain" is more annoying than anything. I will say that my side hurt the most...lower back and ankle were the least painful (the lower bak being the easiest). I'd like to get 2 more tats (I like odd #s) and one will be on my wrist and the other will be on my side (but not over the ribs like the other one) - more on the fleshy part between the waist and hip.

I like that idea too. I just picture it being somwhere that I can see and hold and rub when I am getting bad news, or having a bad day or whatever. Draw strength from it might be a better way to say it

Deb-I love it! CaMacho's husband-amazing!
I chose my lower back b/c I didn't want to see it everyday (I actually forget it's there), I wanted to keep it private and be able to show it when I wanted to. It's the perfect spot for me b/c nobody has to see it unless I choose to show them.
I chose the same spot for the same reasons... I love that I can hide it when I want and show it when I want. Something like that though, I would probably put it on the back of my neck or an ankle... definitely show it off as much as you can. Its absolutely beautiful... amazing!
ETA: the inside of your wrist would be great too! You wont need pain killers either!

Re: Tattoo'ers
I want to get a butterfly on the inside of my wrist. DH is requesting I do it on the ankle. I'm going to try to persuade him when the time comes to get it.

Re: Tattoo'ers
I have 2. One on my left shoulder and one on my right butt cheek.
the one on my shoulder is a heart, star and moon interlocking one another with a 3 shooting stars underneath them and the one on my butt is a butterfly.
did they hurt? the one on my shoulder- YES, half way through the guy hit my bone and I almost passed out. the coloring didnt hurt at all.
my butt cheek- NO pain, just a pinch here and there. the thing with that tat was I had to straddle the chair , wear a thong, I had a summer dress on that I held up and the only thing I kept thinking was please dont fart b/c the guy is right in my arse!
then after that I got my tongue and belly button pierced for the second time. My piercing have been out for 6 years now.
I would LOVE to get another tat but my DH hates them.

I know that people believe that the pain is part of the experience. I know you can't drink alcohol and get a tat but what about pain killers? I have loads of stuff around here from the last year.
first off, it looks great.
secondly, you can take pain killers, its fine. drinking is actually fine too. since they thin your blood it is rumoured you cant take them/drink before a tattoo because you will bleed like a maniac. this is untrue, sure it thins your blood, but not that much. some ppl are just bleeders. some are not. most tattooists wont tattoo you drunk because youre not in the right mind frame, but having a drink or two to calm your nerves, is fine. my friend drank alot of beers before he got his tattoo wheni was with him. he was even drining a Bud WHILE getting the tat. he barely bled at all. everyone is different. some tattoo artists even haev a numbing cream you can ask them to use.
as far as deciding where you want to get it. thats just different for everyone. some ppl want places you can hide easily. that was me when i got my first 3. i either just WANT the tattoo and will draw it and put it all over my body and decide where i want it. or i like a certain spot and figure out what to put there. it all depends.
good luck.

Re: Tattoo'ers
Love the tattoo!
I vote for inner ankle. I have two, one on my lower belly/hip right by the underwear line and one on my inner ankle. I LOVE the position on my ankle. I have been wanting a third tattoo but I cannot think of a place to get it, so I know how you feel. Arms and neck would be unprofessional for work, and I am not that into the back tattoos.

i am actually the same, i hate shoulder tattoos.... and unless its a sleeve (or 1/2 or 1/4) i dont like upper arm tats either. they look trashy imo. well, the smaller they are , the worse they look. weird, but its just my preference.

Some people make it out to be so bad I am not sure what to expect! I always thought it couldn't be THAT bad. Plus you would think, I SHOULD be used to is considering how much history needles and I now share
pain is relevant to the area and it also depends on the individual. also the size.
once i've been sitting a chair for longer than 2 hours i get VERY antsy and it gets sore by then, so the more sore it is, teh worse it hurts, sice youre going over parts that already hurt.
yours looks like it isnt going to be very big, so you hsould be fine. some spots will hurt alot, some spots will be like "is he even tatooing me right now?"
for ME the outline hurts the most. its also takes the longest. the colorign in is a breeze.
my most painful spots are: back of neck, upper back, *inner arm*, dith, the foot, but only in the middle on hte bone
my least painful spots: the wrist, the lower back, inner ankle, hip

Re: Tattoo'ers
I'm back and I have a tattoo. We had to make changes to the coloring though As much as I ADORED it the tattoo artist let me know how difficult it would be with the colors and the design and such. SO I got a butterfly, with its body as a cancer ribbon. The top of each wing is purple (my favorite color) and the bottom of each wing is blue (for my baby boy).
