Online shopping - I fill a basket with stuff but I don't buy it.
Planning a trip - I will go to expedia and plan like I'm really going away (and if I'm lucky, the trip happens).
Drive out to the beach and sit alone to people watch, think, write.
Plan a gathering with a friend - or many friends. Seeing them is better than any therapy in the world.
And sometimes I just drink. 
I do all of the above as well

I think it out. I sound preachy and whatever buut when I am down, I remember I WOKE up today and I have a son nothing else pulls me out of a funk like that simple thought. It's easy to gripe about life and how hard or unfair it is but you know what...that takes too much energy. Be positive and appreciate the good instead of obsessing your focus on the bad.
