If you have your own website . . .
Where did you create it for free? Is freewebs.com a good site to use for creating your own? Any other suggestions would be very helpful! thanks

What do you want to put on it? If a blog format works, check out www.wordpress.org.
My site is running on WordPress, although I did tweak a lot of the colors and things, you can download some really nice themes with one column, two columns, etc. from a bunch of different sites.
And it's all free, although does require some configuration of your web host's control panel.

I use godaddy.com.......it's not free, but at 8 bucks a year thats close enough for me.....

I set mine up through Costco - they host my site and gave me all of the software that I needed to set it up.

googlepages.com has free websites, and it's pretty easy to use, with lots of gadgets to add to the page.

I second google. How professional do you want it to look?
I'd learn Dreamweaver if you want to create one for a side job. For a personal site google would be good enough.

I run a bulletin board and use Hostica but I don't recommend them at all.
