Nostalgic Smells
What smells are nostalgic for you?
I was in CVS today and had to smell the Coppertone sunscreen - totally brings back memories of going to the beach with my family when I was really young - they have never changed the smell of it and I'm glad!

New book bags. Dh and I were in Kmart the other day and I was smelling all the kids school bags. Totally brought me back to elementary school!

So funny that you posted this b/c I had that same feeling this morning.
I was starving on my way out the door so I grabbed a piece of white bread and headed out. When I got outside and took a bite of the bread, the smell of being outside and the smell of the bread brought back memories of my grandpa and I feeding the ducks at the pond! I remember I always used to break off pieces of the bread to eat instead of throwing it to the ducks... I was a bread fanatic back then and still am!

the smell of macaroni and cheese brings me back to elementary school... and in a narsty way! i hated school lunch and my mom would never pack for me!

baby oil reminds me of going to the beach - my parents would lather us up in it . . . back then ( not that long ago ) their biggest concern was dry skin and not cancer
raw dough reminds me of snow days when my mom and grandma would make zeppole

this made me tear up - my dad brought me to the ducks almost every summer day and now he brings all of his grandchildren. . . it is one of my favorite memories of my dad and now my nieces and nephews get to share it too!

I did that too - stole the bread when I was supposed to be feeding the ducks with my Nana!

The way the hot pavement smells after it rains.
It reminds me of when I was little and it would pour out and we were stuck indoors until the storm passed.

I don't know what smells make me nostalgic, I just sometimes get a whiff and then a memory. But I don't necessarily know what smell it is. If that makes any sense...

My best scent ever: Don't laugh, but remember Love's Baby Soft perfume???
My absolute fave. Reminds me of being 12 years old again. I have to look online to see if they still market the stuff. Loved that perfume.

 It's one of my favorite memories too.. My mom still has it on video and every couple of years I love watching it.

oh good one- DH still has some of the zebra bottle one- 4 years after they stopped making it- and I love the smell of it when he wears it
he is running out- we need to find more!

Both of these bring me right back to my childhood AND, I do believe I saw Love's Baby Soft in CVS not too long ago. Bottle looked different though.

The smell of lilacs - reminds me of my Grandpa. Every spring/summer he would come over with a whole bunch for me and we'd put them in a vase in my bedroom. The smell brings me right back.

Brings me back to my childhood at the St. Andrews Carnival. It only had like 3 rides because the area was soo tiny, but man there are SO many memories of the carnival, when young with my mom and brothers, and when older with my friends and my crushes

Shalimar..... my mom.
Fires (like as in burnt houses, cars) my dad.
My mom sometimes wears Shalimar and my dad was a fireman when I was a kid (he quit when he got older) and I remember him coming home stinking of a fire. He'd fall back into bed and sometimes I had already snuck in there. ahhhhh..... good memories.
