Were your parents "cool"?
I have to say... mine were and still are!
My mom was always the cool mom when we were younger, she was in great shape and full of energy (still is). My dad was also the cool dad... he had a pony tail and two earrings in his left ear! They also have amazing personalities and love being involved with my sister and I.
I never went through that phase where I didn't want them around. My gf's and I would always invite my mom to the movies, the beach, etc. My dad loved when we had friends over so he could bbq for everyone. I hope to be the same way with my kids!

My parents were cool but by no means were they the "friend" mom.
My mom was the mom everyone talked to about their problems, but there was a line on how she dealt with her own daughters.

My parents were the straight faced strict ones, but I appreciate it more now.
My Dad does not even own a pair of jeans! Dockers and boat shoes all the way!

Nope. My mom had a saying that I 100% agree with: "You have enough friends you don't need another one. You need a mother." Now I am so thankful for that. NOW, she is my friend and mother. But as a teen she was my mother.
Hopefully I will be the same way. Sure, I would like to do some things differently. But for the most part, I came out OK, so she couldn't have been that bad.

Yup, my parents were the youngest out of all the other parents. Mom drove a cool car and all my friends with chit chat with my mom. They still do to this day...but it's about children and baby stuff...
She was not my buddy though...she was "mom".

No, not at all.
Once, when I was in highschool and with my best friends, my best friend's dad didn't know where we were so he called everyone's mom to find out. When we got back to my friend's house in the morning she SCREAMED at her dad "don't you EVER EVER EVER call Rebecca's mother again! Are you crazy???"
It was just a miscommunication with her father as to where we were, he got the names wrong, but *I* was the only one who got in trouble for it.

My parents were not 'cool'. They weren't friends - they were older and they were old fashioned.
That said - EVERYONE wanted my parents to be THEIR parents. My friends called them Mom and Dad and sometimes would come to my house when I wasn't there to chill out and talk to them.
I miss them.

No. They were young, but not cool.
My dad was more relaxed about me, but my mother - old school, straight out of Italy and her mission was to preserve my virginity. So everyone knew that I wasn't allowed to go out. And if I made it out, it was huge.
I'm lucky that I was eventually allowed to go to sleep overs.

My mom was also a younger mom...took us to concerts & stuff....but in no way was she cool & easygoing.

cool b/c they are both very young (had me as teens) and were still into "of the moment" music and we actually liked a lot of the same things.
my friends thought they were cool b/c my dad would take us hiking up at the park and play games with us at the beach.
they were NOT cool in the respect that they were very strict, and did not allow us to do many of the things my other friends did growing up.

my parents are very laid back, but they're also on the conservative side. so not really "cool", but they were never strict either. I honestly wouldn't know what 1 word to choose in order to describe them.

my dad was extremely strict, but is cool now that my sis and i are all grown up.

I don't know if I would classify them as "cool" but they were young when they had us, so they were more "hip" I'd say.
I never remember being embarrassed of them but they were def strict and I didn't always find that so "cool"
Now I am very close with them and we definetly have a close friendship.

Everyone loves my parents. When you walk in my house, you are family and treated that way. You are offered anything and everything and you dont leave hungry!!!!!!! You are greeted with a hug and kiss and get the same when you leave!!
My parents are modern considering they were born and raised in Italy. My friends call them the modernized guinnea's!! They dress great and the house is always updated (no plastic on the furniture..LOL)
They had their rules...and I respected them. I had a cerfew when my other friends didnt, I wasnt allowed to go with my friends to certain places, but I never got mad at them because they made being home enjoyable!!!! They raised my brother and I with values, tradition and respect!! They were strict but not mean about it!
I LOVE them, and I know DH and I will the same type of parents!!!!!!

My parents weren't cool to me bc they were SO strict. I couldn't go out and I NEVER slept out.
BUT - I guess - they were cool to my friends. My friends were always welcome to eat over. All of my friends were included in all family activities ( amusement parks, the zoo, the circus ) and they were VERY loving. . .
so i guess it depends. . . .

To answer the question...growing up my parents were so not cool but since becoming an adult, they've becoming really relaxed and easy going....
