fighting a ticket
Has anyone fought a ticket in Nassau?
Tues I got pulled over and was given 2 friggen tickets. 1 was definitely wrong, he said I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, which I was when he pulled me over but then he had me park (in a parking lot) so he could talk to me & write me a ticket and I took it off to get my stuff (license & insurance info). The other ticket was I was in a right turn only lane (which I didn't realize till late) and put my blinker on to merge left and went straight.
Anyway my DH says I should call our lawyer, which I think is overkill. I was going to plea not guilty and fight it myself. Anyone have any luck doing this?

Re: fighting a ticket
yes, i have fought several tickets in Nassau county
it's very easy to do and people do it all the time. just send in your ticket as not guilty and they will send you an appearance date. they have lawyers there that everyone meets with right before you go in to see the judge. they will plea bargain for you. i have always gotten my tickets reduced to fewer points/less fines. it is a hassle though, so i really avoid getting them in the first place now!
good luck!
