I highly DOUBT it if anyone on these boards thinks they're ghetto....so why would anyone find it offensive?
It's been a MAJOR point of contention in the past.
To some, using that word is equivalent to saying f@ggot or n!gger.
Not saying I necessarily feel that way, but Kristin was trying to warn her.

A ghetto is a densely populated area where people of the same culture or race may live. There are ghettos all over the place. Nowadays, "ghetto" translates into a different definition. Some find it derrogatory. Some find it fabulous.

I know how you feel about noisy neighbors. We live in an apt., and when the weather's nice, with the windows open, you hear EVERYTHING. Or people don't realize their voices echo in the hallway. I know you said private house, but in close quarters, unfortunately, it seems to come with the territory.

Yep unfortunately, which is precisely why I chose not to say anything to them and VENT it here..and BOY was that a mistake.

agreed, keep your classifications to yourself. Ghetto is not a nice word, just like if I said "the Spics next door.." (I feel I can say this because I am puerto rican, so no disrespect). You just sound so racist Why classify them just say "my neighbors". I don't say my husbands bestfriend who is from Haiti, it is just his bestfriend.

Not a mistake at all.
Someone over the weekend Vented about their noisy neighbors also.
All I said was the word Ghetto caused drama before. And ghetto is not the way someone acts. Its where someone might live

Just because people say it doesn't make it right.
