i'm not a parent BUT

i HATE it when i see people cursing liek crazy in front of kids.

i dont mean the parents. i mean youre sitting on the subway, on line at a store, whatever.... and someone is just "eff this" "eff that"

its sooo rude, i just dont understand it. my kid is gonna have to wear earmuffs all hte time!

I know what you mean...I cringe when I hear bad language around Jared. I usually give my parent stare when strangers talk like that around my kid.

i have a bit of a trucker mouth myself and i caught myself too late and have apologized or give the mom the "oops, im sorry" look but i was on the subway hte other day and there was this kid i guess like 4 years old. young but able to hold a convo... and these 20something year olds were like "f*ck that motherf*cker, he's such a little p*ssy b*tch" and they were LOUD.

Thank you for posting this. I think it is terrible to curse in front of children. If you think they don't notice or pick it up, you are sadly mistaken. I have 5 year olds in my school that can spew the most disgusting language from their mouths that you have ever heard. I think cursing, on some level, spoils their innocence. It has tinges of anger in it and small children are too young to experience anger. I feel VERY strongly about this.

i def think its rude, bc you dont know how that person is raising thier child, whether they curse in front of them or not.......i can see if its acceptable in your family , however i think its unnacceptable in public places.

I agree with you. When my mil and family came to visit my dh had to keep telling them to watch what they say.

Yes! Even before I had DS I was always mindful of not cursing around children. But, I am not a big curser, so it wasn't that difficult.

I hate it too, and I have no problem telling someone to not talk like that around my daughter! Its so discusting!!

I've slipped up and cursed and then apologized. Not proud of it but I am learning to catch it.

I tease DH that between him and my grandfather, our future children's first word will be fcuk (hee hee). Not happy about potty mouths around kids.

I REALLY try to turn of the f-bomb around kids. But sometimes if I don't realize they're there I'll let it slip and then I feel bad.

I would never curse in front of kids in public, no matter what age they are. I even give dh the elbow if he slips...

I think it's way worse when you hear the parents cursing at or in front of their kids.
At least if a stranger does it, you can say to your child - He/She said a bad word. If you are using the words all the time, what kind of an example are you setting?
