If it makes me a snob that I won't stay at a hotel that has a chalk outline of a body on the gold shag carpet in the room so be it!

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
Where ever will I stay when I go back to school for homecoming this year? Syracuse doesn't have a Four Seasons or a W. Damn Super 8.
Vacations I will go the extra mile. Over night - I need a clean toilet and a working TV.

What type of hotels do you stay in?
I must admit, I am a total snob when it comes to hotels. What's the point of going on vacation if you hve a stinky hotel?
I have been known to walk out of a hotel and go somewhere else........
CALL THE SNOB PATROL!!!!
I am extacly the same way. The hotel for me, makes the vacation.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
For work I stayed in everything from the Waldorf's Chrysler suite to little boutique hotels (Elysses, Kea Lani).
While I prefer those, if I'm paying I stick to the chain ones - W, Four Seasons, Marriotts, Hiltons.
I don't know how snobby it is that I don't stay in HoJo's, Ramadas but it wouldn't occur to me to stay at those places because I haven't had good experiences there.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
The one place we'll never stay is an all-inclusive, nor will we ever do a cruise like Carnival, etc..
We generally stay at hotels listed in the following: Leading Hotels of the World Preferred Hotels & Resorts
If the room/suite doesn't have a mini-bar, I'm not interested. I'm a total mini-bar whore.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I like staying at a Bed and Breakfast the best. Places like Las Vegas.....clean sheets, clean room, phone, and a tv is all I need. You're not in there anyway.....A vacation where you are relaxing and exjoying....b&b or a nicer hotel. I know this sounds weird, but I really like the Hampton Inn. The new pillow top matt are killer!

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
It depends on the holiday. If it is a beach holiday than I want something nice, b/c I spend a little more time in the room. If it is a sightseeing holiday, I dont really care as long as it is clean.
I will pay more to stay in a good location of a city than for quality. If there is a 5 star hotel and it is a little out of the way, I would rather pay that same amount to stay in a lower quality hotel in a middle of the action area.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I prefer B&B's or Guesthouses, but a hotel just has to be clean. I'm one of those all I do is sleep there people, so I really don't care too much about the hotel.

as long as there are no bad reviews i dont care how many stars it has
if its known for being clean, moders and safe and has what i need, i will stay there
same.
I don't really hang at the hotel (early to rise, late to bed on vacay) so as long as I have a hot shower, clean towels, and crisp sheets, I am good to go.
unless it's a beach vacation...then I want an ocen view!
Well said! I feel the same way, I am hardly in the room on vacations.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I've gotten terrible with this. It's gotten to the point where if I'm researching vacation venues and fall in love with a hotel online I don't want to visit that city/vacation spot until I can afford to stay at "the" hotel.
However, I consult tripadvisor for every trip. I am not basing it just on star rating - if a hotel has 3 stars but great reviews, I'll stay there. I also love the leading hotels of the world site.
Also, it depends on the type of trip - if we're going out of town for a wedding or function, I'm not as concerned with the hotel - if it's an anniversary trip - I want the best.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
If it's an overnight hotel I dont care as long as I can take a hot shower, sheets and towels are clean.
If it's a vacay then 4 or 5 star and I want a balcony or a nice room with a view

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I am not a snob with anything else but when it comes to hotels I am. Maybe it's because I am a germ phobe and hotels in genral skeeve me out. So if I see one thing I don't like- I don't want to stay.

I think staying at a Ramada is the equivalent to camping.
LOL This is so my husband. He is such a hotel snob. We pretty much only stay in Hilton owned hotels now, because we have a lot of Hilton Reward points since we have the credit card. But we will also stay in Marriott owned properties and Hyatts.
ITA!!! I love the Hilton, Westin, and other high-end hotels. If I'm going to do it, I do it RIGHT.

Us too. We stay at the top top hotels like Ventanas, One and Only, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Ritz, and other 5 star resorts. We treat ourselves super nicely when we vacation.
