Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
What type of hotels do you stay in?
I must admit, I am a total snob when it comes to hotels. What's the point of going on vacation if you hve a stinky hotel?
I have been known to walk out of a hotel and go somewhere else........
CALL THE SNOB PATROL!!!!

I despise staying at places like Days Inn, Red Roof Inn etc.
I prefer at least the Marriott, Wyndham or Hilton

same.
I don't really hang at the hotel (early to rise, late to bed on vacay) so as long as I have a hot shower, clean towels, and crisp sheets, I am good to go.
unless it's a beach vacation...then I want an ocen view!

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I think staying at a Ramada is the equivalent to camping.
I am the decision maker when it comes to hotels. I love hotels, but nice ones. I loved when I use to plan conferences and I got to choose the location.
When we go away with the in laws they choose the hotel. I want to die
I feel like we work hard so when it comes to vacation time I want us to enjoy the best

I work for a hotel company, so I havent stayed at a competitor in over 3 years. I usually stay at Westins, W Hotels, Sheratons and sometimes St.Regis.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I am a BIG HOTEL SNOB. Im not that person that says "why does it matter, you are only sleeping there" I hate that remark. Yes it does matter if Im shelling out big cash for a killer vacation Im going all out. DH and I went to St Lucia last yr did the penthouse with the butler and concierge, People thought I was crazy for doing that. Why not. I want a big comfy bed and room to seperate from DH if he wants to sleep in or watch TV. So yes Im a snob.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I stay in condos within resorts/hotels or nicer hotels. In Daytona we stayed in a gorgeous condo on the beach and paid the same amount as it would have cost to stay at the Days Inn. The resort it was located at was selling rooms for twice the amount we paid. In New Orleans we get the same room every year with a view of the Mississippi River. I don't think I am a total snob I just like rituals. I enjoy staying in the same condo in Daytona and the same hotel room in New Orleans. Hmm I guess that means I am OCD.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
as long as it's clean I'll stay in it. And the a/c works.
I was in a Days Inn in Miami, and the carpet was a bit damp. I was quite skeeved, but I dealt with it. I'm pretty low maintenance.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
It doesn't have to be a 5 star hotel, or in some cases even a 4 star hotel.
But it does have to be nice, clean and safe. If I don't feel comfortable taking my socks off, I don't want to stay there.
I have walked out of hotels if I don't like how they look.
My days of slummin' it are over.

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
First off I will say that just the word snob irks me to no end
I like to think im NOT a snob but since having been on cruises in the past ten years, we have been quite spoiled and definitely stay at much better hotels/resorts than we would have years ago. plus having kids. I want them to be able to walk around barefoot, etc. and feel like the floors are cleaner than their feet
BUT it does depend on where Im going. I will also say that I have NO problem going to stay at my grandparents house on the countryside of ITaly, where my mom grew up. You gotta pull the string to flush the toilet but the house has so much character and so many memories Made much better than any of our cardboard houses in the US (Stone, granite, marble)
So "where I stay" really depends. I do like the comforts and amenities of nice places. heck, who doesnt like to feel like royalty once in a while but to use the word snob, just rubs me the wrong way (no offense to original poster!)

Re: Spinoff to snobbiness. Hotels?
I am...and you can always find a decent deal on a good hotel. You just have to look.
I had a bad experience just recently with a lower end hotel/motel. Won't be doing that again. I didn't book it, so we just had to go along with the group.
My favs are Hyatt, Radison, Hilton, Marriott...not too expensive, but nice.

If it makes me a snob that I won't stay at a hotel that has a chalk outline of a body on the gold shag carpet in the room so be it!

LOL This is so my husband. He is such a hotel snob. We pretty much only stay in Hilton owned hotels now, because we have a lot of Hilton Reward points since we have the credit card. But we will also stay in Marriott owned properties and Hyatts.
