Re: Controversy

What I think the problem is, is this:

Why should her innocent 4 yr old daughter be exposed to things like that? Don't 4 yr olds ask all sorts of questions? Does she really need it imposed on her? Let Rosie say her piece but don't use your daughter as a prop.

I really don't understand the controversy here. Her kids were playing and she took a picture. People on this very site do this every day. Because of the nature of the game the kids were playing and the state our country is in right now over the war and because she is very opinionated about her views on the war, people are taking it the wrong way. Its not like she took her daughter, forced her to dress in fatigues, gave her a gun and ammo and bloodied her up like she was in a war zone.
As for having the "costume" around the house - what is wrong with having having some camo clothes in the house, its actually in style now and you can find it at old navy. But even if she did have a soldier costume, I don't see the big deal? Kids all over the country are "army guys" for Halloween, and no one would blink an eye.
After taking the pic she probably thought she could make some kind of statement by posting it, and that was stupid of her (or maybe it wasn't, look at the attention she is getting), but i don't think there was anything malicious done here.

I completely agree with you.

Re: Controversy

I didn't read the blog, so I might be missing something, but.....my problem with this is I find it hypocritical of someone who was such a vocal anti-gun advocate to post photos of her child in this type of outfit. Rosie was so vocal about the gun issue that she publicly humiliated a guest on her talk show who was an NRA member.

I am fairly liberal, I do support gun control and hate the war, but I think Rosie often does more harm than good to the causes or issues she brings attention to.

Re: Controversy

She is crazy!! Why would you allow your child to dress like that if you oppose war as much as she does and then post her picture all over the web!?! And for those of you who think she wasn't trying to make a statement it just seems a little radical to me. Growing up with 3 brothers who played war games- none of them ever dressed in fake ammoChat Icon

I couldn't care less what Rosie put on her kid, but i think its silly for anyone to say that there was absolutely NO thought behind it, or that its Typical for a LOUD anti-arms advocate to have "costume ammunition" just laying around her house for her kids to play with. Complete hypocricy, yet, there are people that actually believe that either A) she's making a great statement with this OR B) this picture just happened by chance.. and either way, i think it couldnt be further from the truth.
