Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
Has anyone else been experimenting with this? I usually "try" going to bed between 11 - 11:30 and try not to drink after 10pm. I will take only the slightest sip of water just to wet my mouth. I really haven't noticed too much less on the bathroom visits and if I stop drinking water before 10 - I wake up during the night and am VERY thirsty.

Getting dehydrated isn't good during pregnancy. I wouldn't bother trying to control it -- peeing a lot is just another glamorous part of being pregnant!

Re: Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
I just drink and pee. I gave up on trying to deal with it. I even drink a little every time I get up. I realized I cramped a bit in the mornings where I didn't drink much.

I learned the last time around that it didnt matter if I drank a lot before bed or not...so now I dont bother limiting myself..I also go to bed with a glass of water next to the bed in case I wake up thirsty

I keep water next to the bed also, but I find when I do wake to go to the bathroom, it's a little painful until I do go which is why I'm trying to limit a bit before bedtime

It didn't matter for me - I still got up to pee.
But hey - once baby is out it is amazing how you DON'T need to pee in the middle of the night!!

Donna - I tried the same exact thing. I would stop drinking water at 10 and go to bed between 11-11:30. It didn't matter at all. I was still up every hour on the hour.
Now, at 41+ weeks I can actually get a whopping two hours in between every bathroom trip. Those two hours make it feel like I've been sleeping for days.

Re: Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
I've done this since day 1 of both my pg's.
I drink ALL my water during the day and I stop downing liquids 2-3 hours before bed.
My whole pg's I slept through the night up to the 3rd trimester. My whole 3rd trimester and Even now being 37.5 weeks, I only wake up once a night to pee.
The key is to drink ALL your liquids during the day. I sip stuff at night or eat fruit.

Once a night to pee!!! SHOWOFF!
I drink fluids all day long so I know I'm hydrated enough. I am very good about never leaving the house without a huge water bottle too. I'm just getting tired of going to the bathroom, getting back into bed and just as I'm getting comfortable again - I gotta get up and go!

Re: Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
I never stop drinking the water. Peeing all day and night stinks but dehydration is a big cause of premature births. I'd rather be inconvenienced with an extra pee trip at night.

Sorry, don't hate me
I know how you feel though, when there's the tiniest bit in my bladder the baby pouncing on it makes you see stars sometimes and feel like you are going to pee your pants.
I never leave the house without my water bottle either. I am in no dehydrated either. I keep a water bottle by my bed just in case i wake up parched, but that's a rarity. It stinks to go all the time, and hey I have a 1 year old all alone all day long that's up my butt and can't be trusted for even pee time-i am a speed pee'er!

ITA. Plus I still believe it's a bizarre way that you are prepped to get up in the middle of the night for feedings.

Re: Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
I tried this ONCE because the potty breaks were killing me at night. (stopped drinking at 9, bed at 10 and up no later than 6) I woke up so incredibly thirsty the next morning that I never did it again. Oh and I STILL woke up needing to go all night!

Re: Limiting fluid intake before bedtime
Hey if it helps --- I only get up once or MAYBE twice to BF during the night -- and rarely have to pee either time. So there IS light at the end of the tunnel!!
