I hate
searching for airfare. We're going to Disney in August and I was hoping to use my frequent flier miles. However, the departure day is blacked out. So now i have to hunt for airfare.

that happened to me with Jet blue- I transfer 20,000 amex miles to Jet blue- then I can only use 1 way
so I have 1 free one way to use - so annoying!
I could have just paid with miles and got the whole thing for free!

If you are talking about Disneyworld do not go in August.  I went last year it was lovebug season. I went to one park and got attacked the entire time. I went to Downtown Disney to eat (indoors) so that was not quite as bad. The bugs hit the windows and you cannot go out on the terrace or go swimming. 
eta: IDK if lovebugs are every year or like cicadas that come ever 10 yrs...either way I am horrified for life.

Yep, we're going then. We're going with friends and staying for free. I'll stock up on the bug spray.

Lovebugs come out two times a year. They come out the last 2 weeks of May and 2 weeks in August. They are so gross. And they are greatly attracted to white.
Definately try jetblue or even southwest.
