BC options (I can't take Pill anymore)

OK...I am not TTC again, and I don't want to for awhile...but if I was bad with my Pill before Bella, I am TERRIBLE after.

I forget to take it for days (had my period twice in one month at last three times in last 9 months)

I forget to refill it (start later in month)

I just all around forget.

But my AF is violently painful (this month should be fun)

My body is so mad at me for all the ups and downs.

I need to do something else, I am thinking IUD AFTER #2, but what do I do now...besides become a nun,

Help.

Re: BC options (I can't take Pill anymore)

how about depo- depending on when you want to TTC #2 it could be a good choice. I also thought I read you could do an IUD after having your 1st baby.

Hmm, I was going to suggest the IUD. I love mine, and once its removed, you can TTC right away.... It's the best form of BC ever for me, and I've tried them all.

How long are you planning to wait before TTC again? Are Depro shots an option?

My Oldest DD did Depo shots for several years and never had a period the whole time. She had to switch to something else this year.

For some ladies, like me Chat Icon , the Mirena IUD eliminates periods. For others, it lessens the heaviness and the length of flow, making cramping less. I haven't had one single cramp since I got it (well, after the initial insertion!). Worth looking into it, there are 2 types.

Re: BC options (I can't take Pill anymore)

I would get an IUD. I had it and I don't have any kids. I got it for 2 years and just recently had it removed. It was a little tough at first ( I think mainly because I had no kids and it was stretching my uterus) THe periods were really painful and really heavy for the first 3 months but then after that.. It was wonderful. I have heard that some people stop getting periods that didn't happen for me. My periods were heavier but I had a weird frame of reference because I had been on the pill for sooo long and had very light ones. So coming off hormones and going right to the IUD makes it hard for me to tell if the IUD makes my periods heavier or if the lack of hormones does? It's a chicken or the egg thing?

what about the ring? That is also very easy.

ETA: there are two types of IUD's one with a little hormone and one with no hormone. I used the one with no hormone.

Nope! - inserted by your OB - you hang open like your getting a pap Chat Icon I had cramping for a few hours after it was in and then nothing. I bled lightly for a few weeks, then had 2 periods that lasted for about 3 days and were light. Then it disappeared all together. Every lady I know has different effects, so I would talk to your OB about it if it sounds like something you would be interested in.

This is why they took her off it. We have some issues with that in our family.

Just a suggestion...I forget to take it too. I now set my cell phone alarm to go off daily to remind me. I had my period for a month after forgetting and refuse to have this happen again!Chat Icon

Re: BC options (I can't take Pill anymore)

I believe that IUD does help with cramps. Really, it is dispensing hormones, from what I understand. You can get it taken out after any amount of time.

Did you ever think of the patch?
