Job Spinoff...What was your worst job?

I was a hostess at the Marriott in Islandia over 10 years ago. I lasted there 3 months. HATED it with a passion.

Cashier at Keyfood. As if being a CSR wasn't bad enough, the owner, Marty, a short bald guy with a cigar in his mouth 24 hours a day would yell at us constantly and in front of customers for NO reason.

God, I hated that job

I worked once for a private shopper. He was a grimy SOB and treated me like shyte. I worked there for a week, and he never paid me even though he owed me $1000 in commission. Jerk

Oh and he tried to follow me home one night. It was hysterical b/c I lived with my friends at the time & 2 of them were bouncers

I was just recently a grad of college and needed cash pronto.

My dad has a hook-up at the US Open and got me a job as a concession stand head (I was basically in charge of like 3 stands)

I HATED IT...the workers called me cracker and said I was too young to be in charge. I lasted 4 days.

A tennis shop. It was run by cheap a-holes. And the customers were spoiled rich women who just shopped all day and expected me to be their personal shopper. And the pay was HORRIBLE!! I just wanted the discount.

A waitress at Land's End (the catering hall)... I'm just not good at carrying heavy trays of drinks and food

oh god, a feeder aide at a nursing home, it was $10 an hour when i was in highschool,
but it was a terrible job.

I got a temp job at a law firm when I lived in Albany and went home for lunch and didn't go back!!!!

Everyone was just mean and cranky!!! (and I was young & stupid)

i was a legal secretary at a small law firm in floral park where the partners thought WAAAYYY too much of themselves. i was in trouble for EVERYTHING - seriously i had 3 partners call me into a meeting to discuss the fact i broke a letter opener while opening a package - to tell me i need to be more careful.

i worked there for 9 months - and bailed as fast as i could!

Bussing/Waitress we used to get my boss drunk so he would pass out in the back and leave us all alone for the rest of the day.

I temped for a Japanese export company three summers ago when I was layed off and I was filling in for a woman who was going to Europe for the summer. It was a fun job in communications and I got to publish the daily company news paper on the intranet site every day. So when the assignment ended and they asked me to temp for the benefits department (that was my field), I was thrilled! Well....I was put in a room alone with no phone or computer to put papers in alphabetical order and in boxes all day long and would bang my head on the desk from falling asleep! I told DH, I can't do this anymore so I would call out sick til they got the hint and told me the assignment was over
I will NEVER temp again!!

I was laid off after 9/11 due to the bad job market and working in lower manhattan. Instead of sitting home I took a temporary job in an air conditioning company in Canarsie. I was there a year (wayyyyyyyyy longer than i ever expected) and it was the worst thing ever. The pay was BAD, they wouldn't let you leave for lunch...so much more. I finally went back to work on Wall St. and never appreciated my line of work more!!!!

Friendly's - I was at the ice cream counter and window and the waitresses would be out smoking and the ice cream would be melting all over and I would have to yell for them to take them to the table before I would have to make another one. I lasted a month.

Worst actual job responsibilities was an internship in college. I worked for a fast food franchise and had to go to different restaurants with a huge map of the area and use colored dots to mark where people were right before they came, where they were going right after they ate, and where they lived. It showed traffic patterns and helped you figure out where to target local advertising. But I'm really shy and it was so uncomfortable for me to approach people. Plus sitting there in a suit all day felt weird.

Worst boss - I worked for a woman who was bi-polar but thought she could manage it on her own without meds. She could not. Very difficult to deal with.

I started in customer service on the phones. It was terrible getting yelled at by customers all day long. I dreaded going into work EVERYDAY. Thankfully now I'm in a position I love and don't plan on going anywhere for a while!

I worked at Pudgies chicken for about 2 months- I came home smelling like chicken

but that is where Jake and I met- he was the chicken boy- as far worse job then mine

Working for dept of sanitation for the summer in special pick up. Our boss was a nightmare.

None of my jobs were that bad.

I would have to say that last summer, the job I am at now was the worst - I went through a little rough patch there for a while.
