We had a pool in the backyard so we were in my pool or a friends pool almost daily! That and played kickball and rode bikes, and caught frogs.

We had a summer house in a private community in Oakdale that has a pool and a beach, so we were always there for the summers

a few short trips with the folks
Vacation Bible School (at like every church in town, didn't matter what denomination we all did the circuit LOL)
just plain old fashioned playing with the kids on my block, riding bikes or swimming in my neighbors pool.

Vacations with the parents...
Visited grandfather and would stay for weeks at a time...he had a big pool...
Went to the beach all summer in my teens...
Never did the camp thing...

Same here. I did it all except for the Rockaway bungalows and the kiddie pool in the middle of the street.

oh yes and definitely stoop sitting! mostly at night so if we wanted to stay out we BEST not leave that stoop! LOL
I remember saying "stoop" around LI friends and they were like....

Us, too! But when I went they didn't have a pool yet.
Otherwise, the pool at home or the beach! EVERYDAY!!! God, it was great! I can't imagine never having been to the beach.

From the age of 4-15, I use to spend the entire summer at my summer place in Maine. Relaxing on the lake, tubing, fishing, sunbathing. We use to leave the day after school got out (mom's a teacher) & come back Labor Day weekend. My dad would come back to NY when he had to go back to work & then come back up! If I could only go back to those days!!!! Hopefully I can do the same traditions with my kids!!!!

all of the above..
went to camp 1 year, hated it. went to the beach, w/my mom & sisters, loved that. when I got older my parents bought me a pool pass and I went w/my friends everyday

From about age 1 to age 7 my parents and my dad's cousins all used to go 4-wheeling at Smith Pt all weekend, no tents, no nothing. We used to sleep on the beach.  They were a bit young and crazy, plus there wasn't all the rules like now. Back then there wasn't too many people out there.
As a teenager, I lived at Smith Point and by the time I was 15 my parents let me camp there with my friends. My parents also had a boat by then so we did a lot of waterskiing as well.

I know we were always outside. My brother went to camp and I used to put on shows with my friends, we were the purple panthers and danced, did baton, etc.  Oh to be 8 again. Pool parties, never camping, to this day I wont go camping all those stupid Jason movies did it for me.
